Retail Nursery Supervisor

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Retail Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gardening and landscaping, along with strong leadership skills to oversee daily operations in a retail environment. This role involves managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining the quality of our plant and garden products. The Retail Supervisor will play a crucial role in fostering a positive shopping experience for our customers while driving sales and operational efficiency.

Duties

• Supervise daily retail operations, including staff management and scheduling.
• Provide training and support to team members on product knowledge and customer service best practices.
• Ensure the store is well-stocked, organized, and visually appealing to customers.
• Assist customers with inquiries regarding plant identification, lawn care, and gardening techniques.
• Maintain inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
• Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
• Handle customer complaints or issues promptly and professionally.
• Collaborate with management to develop sales strategies and promotional activities.

Skills

• Basic math skills for handling transactions and inventory management.
• Knowledge of gardening, landscape maintenance, and greenhouse operations.
• Familiarity with plant identification techniques and care requirements.
• Proficiency in using hand tools related to gardening and landscaping tasks.
• Mechanical knowledge for basic equipment maintenance is a plus.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Leadership qualities that inspire teamwork and enhance employee performance.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional coursework or certification in horticulture, retail management, or a related field highly preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail sales or customer service, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead role. Experience in a garden center or nursery strongly preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

When driving a personal or company vehicle, a valid California Driver’s License, legal minimum California Drivers Insurance to operate their vehicle and to be insurable on the company policy, is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 - $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
