Oakstone Community School (OCS) promotes the education of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) by providing an innovative and individualized program. Focus is on empirically-based curriculum, instructional strategies, and behavior techniques which enable students to develop necessary academic precursor and self-management skills. Along with academics, related services and fine arts, focus is on reducing the impact of the core deficits area. Students learn and work collaboratively within the school community as they develop respect for themselves and others in a school that provides a unique, dynamic, and interactive environment concentrating on the strengths of each students as they gain academic competency and develop personal responsibility. Oakstone Community School is a small public school located in Columbus, OH that specifically serves a small population of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders of varying academic ability levels. We are looking for a dedicated professional who knows how to teach in an engaging and interactive way and excels at one-on-one communication. The ideal candidate is a licensed educator in the State of Ohio who can work well under pressure, and is able to quickly assess student concerns and help students understand difficult topics.
SPECIALIZED SCHOOL, SMALL CLASS SIZES, TEAM TEACHING ENVIRONMENT.
Looking for a passionate teacher with the following qualifications/qualities:
- Science License for grades 7-12 or;
- Intervention Specialist License
- Strong understanding of content in Science courses for MS and HS levels (e.g. physical science, biology, chemistry, earth/space)
- Differentiation skills for working with students of varying ability levels
- Passion for working with students with disabilities and students below grade level
- Comfortable delegating tasks to team members such as teacher aids and other content lead teachers
Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct lessons.
- Manage students' behavior in the class.
- Maintain a safe and efficient classroom environment.
- Evaluate students' work and progress.
- Communicate with parents.
- Assess student needs and recommend appropriate interventions when needed.
- Develop lesson plans in accordance with school policy.
