What are the responsibilities and job description for the Culture and Engagement Specialist position at Oakwood Brand?
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)
- As directed by CEO, serves as project manager for projects and initiatives related to building culture and improving employee engagement. ( Percentage of time: 25%).
- Employee Program Oversight (Percentage of time: 30%)
- Develops and implements strategies to build culture and increase employee engagement that will increase employee morale and staff retention.
- Identifies key metrics and accurately monitors the progress of programs, making the necessary adjustments to increase employee engagement.
- Collaborates with organizational leaders to create initiatives and programs that promote employee engagement.
- Works with HR Talent Development team to develop and provide training and coaching to leaders on improving employee engagement.
- Creates, launches, and manages an employee appreciation/recognition program. Partners with HR and Life Enrichment, the THRIVE and DEIB Committees and other departments to ensure the program's success.
- Coordinates internal communication of engagement programs, committees, and subcommittees.
- Identifies, researches, develops, and implements best practices in employee engagement and how to recognize employees.
- Resident Engagement (Percentage of time: 20%)
- Develops and implements strategies to build culture and morale among residents.
- Identifies key metrics and accurately monitor the progress of programs, making the necessary adjustments to increase employee engagement.
- Creates and launches a resident engagement and satisfaction survey in partnership with Sales, Marketing, Finance and other appropriate partners.
- Identifies opportunities to boost morale between residents and employees, including potential DEIB initiatives.
- In partnership with HR, coordinate Annual Employee Engagement Survey (Percentage of time: 15%)
- In partnership with HR, administers annual employee engagement survey, in conjunction with survey vendor.
- Analyzes and benchmarks survey data trends and identify opportunities to celebrate successes and areas for developing programming to enhance the employee experience.
- Based on results, works with leaders to create organization-wide action plan, and departmental action plans.
- Meets with leaders and staff at least quarterly to develop and discuss departmental activities related to their survey results.
- Reports on key performance indicators related to employee engagement.
- Other Duties (Percentage of time: 10%)
- Serves as a member of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Committee
- Participates in internal work groups, meetings, and committees relative to position responsibilities.
- Ensures compliance with Oakwood Village policies and protocols, state, federal, and other regulations.

- Best practices in engagement, with specific knowledge of the senior living industry.
- Maintains strict confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of strategy development, project management, ability to implement, track and monitor programming.
- Effectively develops and tracks meaningful metrics to determine program progress.
- Demonstrated experience in organizational development and change management.
- Exhibits proven ability to build strong relationships at all levels (employees, vendors, board, volunteers, and the public) and proven record in connecting with a leadership team to drive for results.
- Effectively communicates information to all levels of employees, Board of Directors, and external partners.
- Demonstrates excellent organization skills, effectively manages priorities, multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Embodies excellent interpersonal, facilitation and coaching skills.
- A strategic thinker, results oriented and innovative.
- Operates effectively using a client/customer, consultative leadership approach.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND/OR TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as human resources, business or social science discipline with five years relevant work experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- At least three years of employee engagement experience working with both leaders and staff.
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.
