EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
OVERVIEW: Oakwood Home for Women is a nonprofit, 8-bed halfway house that helps women, 18 years and older, reclaim their lives from the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction. Oakwood asks each resident for at least a 6-month commitment to our home. Because of the unlimited difficulties each resident has upon admission, Oakwood is prepared to offer a safe environment to help rebuild their lives. Oakwood Home for Women endorses the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, works with a Board of Directors and an Executive Director, promotes emotionally healthy relationships, and progresses our residents to independent living.
REPORTS TO: The Current President of the Board of Directors and the Management Committee of Oakwood Home for Women.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Executive Director
- Be able to maintain the house at full capacity and work with the Oakwood Home for Women Board of Directors, and Oakwood Home for Women Alumni while acting as a liaison to the recovery community, as well as networking with area treatment centers, mental health facilities, nonprofit agencies, and the civic community.
- To assist all residents in receiving what they need to continue their recovery process by directing and recommending programs allowing residents to begin reintegration into society while still providing monitoring and support.
This includes but is not limited to:
Support with legal, family, and financial issues.
Support with emotional problems such as stress, depression, anger, etc.
Assist residents in self-administration of medications.
Provide rehabilitation services such as individual mentoring, advocacy services, counseling services, recreation services, education, and information.
- Responsible for the application – referral – admissions process and documentation
This includes but is not limited to:
Receives and evaluates intake calls, referrals, and applications. Completes all paperwork, and coordinates referrals, and the applicant's interview process with the management committee.
Facilitates admissions.
Maintain communication with referral sources.
Provides appropriate referrals to non-qualified applicants.
- Monitor residents’ behaviors and report any MAJOR concerns to the management committee.
- Monitor maintenance of the facility and work with the President of the Board as well as the Maintenance Committee / Chair.
- Administrative duties: Include but not limited to:
Payroll, Accounts payable, deposits, resident evaluations, coordinating house meetings, maintaining resident goal sheets and folders, managing the schedule of chores, shopping lists, food bank, and health department documentation, orchestrating schedules and appointments of the residents, recording disciplinary actions and discharges, and preparing for monthly Board meetings.
- Implement our program within the required budget and work with the grant committee on annual grants and deadlines.
- Maintain an ongoing relationship with the Finance Committee /Chair.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be female
- Seven years of continuous sobriety (Unless otherwise specified)
- Active member of a 12-step recovery program.
- Leadership and organizational skills, and an ability to help develop effective committees and team efforts
- Must be able to work independently and handle crises appropriately.
- Must convey a professional image to the residents and the community.
- Must have some understanding of residential operations and the ability to balance supervision of residents with facility management.
- Must have some computer skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have own vehicle for use.
- Must live in the Shreveport/Bossier area or be willing to relocate.
- Must be available to be on call 24 hours a day for crises and emergencies in the home.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to work flexible and nontraditional hours as needed to resolve crises.
- Ability to climb stairs.

Pay: $32,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
