Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic General Manager to join our team and lead various departments, including hotel operations, restaurant management, and event coordination. This role is essential in ensuring a seamless and exceptional experience for our guests while driving team success, operational excellence, and administrative efficiency. The General Manager will represent Oakwood Resort in the local community, fostering strong relationships with local businesses and organizations. This role will report directly to ownership and work closely with a team of skilled department leaders to ensure the success of all resort operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the daily and seasonal operations of the hotel, restaurant, and event venues.
- Lead, inspire, and support department managers and staff to achieve goals and deliver outstanding guest experiences.
- Plan and lead weekly meetings to ensure consistent communication and foster a collaborative, positive team environment across all departments.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Monitor financial performance, control costs, and meet budgetary objectives.
- Maintain high guest service standards by addressing concerns and implementing feedback to ensure a welcoming environment.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and hosting of large seasonal events, such as holiday brunches, community events, and special celebrations
- Serve as an ambassador for Oakwood Resort, building and nurturing relationships with guests, vendors, local businesses, organizations, and residents to enhance the resort’s reputation within the community.
- Perform administrative duties, including:
- Assisting with payroll processing.
- Renewing yearly permits and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Overseeing employee housing arrangements.
- Assisting in the completion and submission of seasonal H2B Visa applications.
Qualifications:
- Hospitality and/or restaurant management experience: 2 years preferred
- Management or leadership experience: 2 years required
- Hospitality or customer service experience: 5 years required
- Degree in hospitality, business management, communications, or another related field is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
- Familiarity with email communication and various computer skills is required.
- Proven ability to effectively manage and coordinate multiple departments.
- A passion for creating memorable guest experiences and fostering a strong team culture.
- Ability to represent the resort positively within the local community.
Work Schedule & Flexibility:This position requires flexibility to work varying shifts, including 8-hour or 10-hour shifts, day shifts, evenings as needed, and holidays, Monday to Friday, as well as weekends based on business needs. Please note that weekends from May to September are mandatory due to peak season.
