What are the responsibilities and job description for the Classroom Assistant position at Oakwood School?
Classroom Assistants are scheduled for 37.5 hours per week in the classroom. This position is a 10-month role which follows our academic school year from August through June each year.
- Classroom, After School Program or Summer Camp work experience, or other equivalent professional experience working with children
- Bachelor’s degree in Education preferred but not required
- Commitment to our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) mission
- Ability to think on one’s feet
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Must enjoy working with children and demonstrate good judgment in doing so
- Patience and a sense of humor
- Supervises and supports the teacher with classroom programming and activities. Sets up and dismantles actives and projects as needed.
- Supervises and facilitates free-choice activities and recess.
- Assists the teacher with developing weekly lesson plans.
- Submits material requests.
- Helps students learn in creative, hands-on, interactive, and age-appropriate ways
- Incorporates opportunities for students to collaborate, problem-solve, and be creative
- Other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $21-$23 an hour
