- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in physical education or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- At least four years of relevant leadership experience in an athletics-related role in an educational environment.
- Proven strength in athletic curriculum design, and the creation and implementation of a robust K-6 athletics scope and sequence.
- Experience teaching and coaching different sports at the elementary level.
- Successful background working with student athletes and coaches.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional and empathetic approach.
- Willingness to be part of a collaborative environment and work closely with colleagues and parents.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capacity to meet the physical demands of the role.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.

- Requires evening and weekend commitments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, manage, and supervise developmentally appropriate athletic and PE programs in line with the elementary school’s overall educational mission and goals and makes the program accessible to all students.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of a robust K-6 athletic curricular scope and sequence.
- Innovate and develop a strategic vision for athletics at Oakwood EC.
- Represent Oakwood Elementary in all league and athletic associations, and attend all meetings. Work in partnership with the other members of the SFVPSL (San Fernando Valley Private School League) and the League Commissioners.
- Schedule all contests for the school’s teams.
- Update athletic website pages with schedules, locations, and results of all interscholastic games.
- Ensure that all athletic equipment, facilities, fields, and courts are safe for daily use.
- Ensure that athletic facilities are prepared for hosting athletic contests.
- Schedule transportation for all away athletic contests.
- Secure the necessary number of qualified officials for each home contest.
- Coordinate with the school nurse to ensure that all student-athletes have turned in required forms/paperwork.
- Oversee the distribution, collection, storage, upkeep, and replacement of all school athletic uniforms and equipment.
- Order and distribute athletic apparel for coaches.
- Prepare and implement the annual departmental budget.
- Ensure that all coaching positions are filled with competent and properly trained coaches.
- Supervise, develop, and evaluate all coaches.
- Distribute the weekly facility schedule so coaches can plan practices accordingly.
- Organize coaches’ meetings at the beginning of each season to review expectations, guidelines, and rules of play.
- Communicate with both students and parents regarding appropriate expectations for each level of competition and for behavioral expectations for players and fans.
- Manage parent concerns as they arise.
- Report athletic achievements for both individuals and teams to the Communications Office.
- Maintain accurate records of team and individual athletic statistics and accomplishments.
- Select and guide parent athletic liaisons in their support of the athletics program.
- Distribute Parent-Student Handbook to team parents each season, and run orientation.
- Partner with the AHOS IP&I to ensure the program is thriving.
- Perform other duties as determined by the Assistant Head of School IP&I.

Salary Range: $80,000-$115,000
