What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outreach Coordinator, K-12 position at Oakwood School?
- Three or more years of administrative/office support experience
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; database experience: Blackbaud preferred
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and prioritize

- Knowledge of or experience in admissions and/or independent schools a plus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred

- Develops programs and alliances to promote inclusivity, to provide families the opportunities to share their experiences with the school, and to enhance Oakwood’s diversity as well as an appreciation of Oakwood’s core educational values.
- Assists in the planning and the implementation of Admission Events:
- EC Kinder Prospective Parent/Guardian Mornings
- SC Prospective Family Open Houses
- K-12 DEIB Prospective Parent/Guardian Event
- Prospective parent/guardian affinity gatherings
- Plan and implement BIPOC social for applicant families of color
- Assist in planning K-12 Spanish admission materials and events
- Research potential feeder schools with a goal of widening Oakwood’s pipeline of prospective families.
- Elicit and organize parent ambassadors for the prospective family events.
- Facilitate prospective parent communication with Admission Parent Volunteer via PeerPal and manage Peer Pal platform.
- Interview/Tour K-12 applicant families and applicants.
- Help the Admission Directors with organizing internal events:
- Ninth Grade Student Luncheon
- New Student Orientation
- Ice Cream Social
- New High School Bowling
- New Parent/Guardian Welcome Events
- Kindergarten playdates
- Kindergarten Social
- Read and evaluate applicant files for major entry points: Kindergarten, 7th Grade, and 9th Grade.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and regular meetings with the Admission Directors.
- Partner with outside admission agencies, attend related admission fairs/events, and conduct presentations.
- Attending all K-12 admission events.
- Promotes and nurtures engaging relationships to create networking opportunities with representatives of outside institutions or groups to facilitate attracting quality students. Initiates and creates activities intended to attract parents and potential supporters to send students to Oakwood.
- Foster and deepen outreach partnerships such as:
- LatinX communities and organizations
- Boys and Girls Scout of America
- The Boys and Girls Clubs
- Young Eisner Scholars (YES)
- YMCA
- ABC (A Better Chance)
- Alliance
- KIPP
- Valor Academy
- Pop Luck Club
- Private School Village
- Private School Axis
- Interview BIPOC families when possible.
- Counsel BIPOC families through the K-12 Admission Process.
- Promote Peer Pal connections and contacts
- Bridge the gap between the DEIB office and overall student life.
- Support CaSa and affinity groups
- Attend POCC
- Manage and assist with programs that support current students of color on campus
- Provide Spanish translation opportunities
- Partner with DEIB office to plan/attend diversity events
- Participate in the overall campus life (attending Town Meetings, performances, sports events, chaperoning, etc.).
- Attend regular meetings with the DoAs
- Attend training and workshops as requested to strengthen job-related skills as needed.
- Follows guidelines for fulfillment of duties as described in the Employee Handbook.

Salary Range: $70,000-$85,000
