Quality Assurance Analyst
Oakwood Software is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Analyst to ensure the reliability, functionality, and performance of our insurance software systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing test plans and test cases, identifying and documenting defects, and working collaboratively with development teams to deliver high-quality software that meets the needs of our insurance clients. Experience within the personal auto insurance industry is highly desirable. This is a full time, salaried position at our Plano, TX location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases based on functional and non-functional requirements for our insurance software applications.
- Perform various types of testing, including functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and usability testing.
- Identify, document, and track software defects using a bug tracking system, providing clear and concise steps to reproduce.
- Analyze test results and provide detailed reports on testing progress, defect status, and overall software quality.
- Collaborate closely with software developers and business analysts to understand requirements, clarify ambiguities, and ensure testability.
- Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, and other project meetings to provide QA input and identify potential issues early in the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of QA standards, processes, and best practices.
- Create and maintain test data to support testing activities.
- Automate test cases where appropriate to improve efficiency and test coverage (depending on experience level and team needs).
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices in software quality assurance and testing methodologies, particularly within the insurance domain.
- Assist in the investigation and resolution of production issues.
- Answer client support questions.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience testing web-based, desktop, and/or mobile applications.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in creating clear, concise, and comprehensive test documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience testing insurance-specific software applications (e.g., policy administration systems, claims management systems, billing systems).
- Knowledge of insurance industry concepts, terminology, and workflows.
- Experience with database testing and SQL.
- Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI).
