Position Overview
We are seeking a Power BI Developer with a deep understanding of the Power BI platform and its capabilities. This role will focus on creating impactful visualizations, managing the integration of Power BI within enterprise environments, and driving user adoption. While a foundational understanding of data engineering processes is important, this role is centered on Power BI development, integration, and optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop dynamic and interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and KPI scorecards that meet business requirements.
- Utilize advanced Power BI features, including:
- Integration with Microsoft Teams, Power Automate, and SharePoint for collaboration and workflow automation.
- Row-Level Security (RLS) to enforce data access policies.
- Power BI Service and Premium capabilities such as shared datasets, app workspaces, and dataflows.
- Optimize report performance through effective data modeling, DAX optimization, and Power Query transformations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and provide best-practice guidance.
- Configure and manage Power BI environments, ensuring alignment with governance policies and enterprise standards.
- Integrate Power BI with external data sources, APIs, and third-party tools as needed.
- Promote Power BI adoption by conducting user training and creating documentation for self-service BI users.
Required Skills
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
- Expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), and creating calculated measures, columns, and hierarchies.
- Strong knowledge of Power BI's capabilities, including data alerts, subscriptions, dataflows, and app workspaces.
- Familiarity with integrating Power BI into broader Microsoft ecosystems such as Teams, SharePoint, and Power Automate.
- Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, including star schemas and relational data models.
- Proficiency in managing Power BI environments, including tenant administration and Row-Level Security (RLS).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Power BI Paginated Reports and Report Builder.
- Knowledge of Power BI Premium capacities, including large dataset management and XMLA endpoints.
- Familiarity with data warehouse principles and how data engineers structure and persist data.
- Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Fundamentals, Power Platform certifications).
