Responsibilities:
- Organizes and implements daily activities that enrich the lives of residents with a person-centered focus.
- Ensure scheduled activities start on time.
- Socialize with residents, their family members and other staff to learn the personal preferences, interests, needs and any limitations of the resident related to activities.
- Maintains and/or provides oversight in maintaining documentation and participation records in accordance with community and state regulations.
- Maintain organization of supplies, craft patterns/ideas, craft equipment and any other tools utilized to conduct activities.
- Provide care, food, and water to the animals housed within the facility, ensuring their nutritional needs are met according to established guidelines and protocols.
- Assist with meal services.
- Communicate with staff members in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Follows guidance of the Activity Director and reports all imperative information to them as needed.
- Attend specialized training in-services.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience and training in Dementia/Alzheimer’s strongly preferred.
- Creativity and a passion for enhancing the lives of seniors.
- Ability to go outside of your comfort zone which could include dancing, singing, or being silly in front of others.
- Empathy, patience, and compassion.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to adapt activities to meet the diverse needs of neighbors (residents).
- Ability to assist with neighbor mobility when necessary.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
