**Job Summary**:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Male Caregiver to join our Recuperative Care team. The ideal candidate will have a background in working with individuals experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide essential support to clients in their recovery and stabilization process, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. This role requires a commitment to delivering personalized, patient-centered care, and a willingness to maintain certifications as required.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide direct care to patients recovering from homelessness, mental health conditions, or other medical needs.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including mobility assistance, hygiene, feeding, and grooming.
- Monitor patients’ physical and emotional well-being, providing support as needed and reporting changes to the healthcare team.
- Facilitate a supportive and safe environment that encourages recovery, dignity, and respect.
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare providers, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to medication protocols (Med Tech Certification required).
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure clients receive proper nutrition (Food Handlers Certification required).
- Conduct light housekeeping duties in patient areas to maintain cleanliness and safety.
- Support mental health initiatives, including de-escalation techniques, and collaborate with mental health professionals to meet patient needs.
- Keep accurate records of patient care, behaviors, and progress reports in accordance with facility policies.
- Provide emotional support and a listening ear to patients, fostering a sense of trust and stability.
- Adhere to all safety, infection control, and privacy regulations in the care setting.
- Maintain CPR certification and respond appropriately in emergency situations (CPR trained required).
**Qualifications**:
- experience in caregiver or similar roles, specifically with homeless or mentally ill populations.
- Experience in providing compassionate care in a recuperative care or rehabilitation setting preferred.
- Med Tech Certification, Food Handlers Certification, and CPR Certification required.
- Strong understanding of mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and homelessness.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to remain calm and collected in challenging or crisis situations.
- Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including assisting patients with mobility and personal care.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, if necessary.
