Job Summary:
The Development and Partnerships Specialist will be crucial in advancing Oasis's mission of empowering LGBTQ youth by helping advance fundraising efforts and fostering community engagement with the Director of Development and Partnerships. This position requires a strong understanding of grant writing, fundraising and marketing strategies, and partnership development.
Organizational Fund Development and Stewardship - 45%
- Work closely with the Director of Development and Partnerships to develop and implement comprehensive and creative fundraising strategies for Oasis's programs and initiatives to secure financial resources to fulfill the organization’s mission.
- Support prospect research to identify new donor opportunities and expand the donor base.
- Collaborate closely with appropriate staff to draft, edit, and complete compelling grant proposals, fundraising campaigns, and donor appeals to solicit financial support.
- Maintain positive ratings on nonprofit platforms such as Candid, Charity Navigator, etc.
- Manage donor database and electronic file systems.
- Maintain accurate records of grants secured and reporting deadlines.
- Help identify, establish, and maintain systems for organizational sustainability.
Partnership Development and Stewardship - 15%
- Identify and support strategic partnerships with community organizations aligned with Oasis's mission and values.
- Collaborate with partners to leverage resources, expand outreach, and develop joint initiatives that address the needs of LGBTQ youth.
- Engage in negotiation processes and finalize partnership agreements.
- Engage in coordinating and implementing partnership activities and facilitate effective communication between partners.
- Leverage partnerships for donor cultivation and stewardship, collaborating on fundraising initiatives and events.
Development Communications 25%
- Support coordination and management of various communication initiatives to promote Oasis's mission and opportunities. This may include creating, distributing, evaluating, and updating:
- Annual reports, newsletters, impact reports
- Email and direct mail communications, website content, and social media presence
- Story collection for promotional purposes
- Donor recognition efforts
- Collateral materials (e.g., brochures, thank you cards)
- Presentation materials (e.g., PowerPoints, promotional items)
Youth Programs & Services - 15%
- Follow youth Program Quality (YPQ) standards, Social Emotional Learning Program Quality (SEL PQ) standards, outcome-based evaluations, and youth member feedback and input to maintain a safe and respectful environment.*
- Conduct intakes as needed for new Oasis members, explaining rules to new youth and setting clear boundaries.*
- Ensure Oasis members, volunteers, and visitors follow established community guidelines to model a youth-adult partnership.
- Coordinate with program staff to connect youth to relevant programming, trauma-informed, culturally relevant advocacy services, crisis intervention, information, and referral.
- Attend and participate in Oasis programs to establish rapport with youth and volunteers and understand emerging needs and trends.
- Document activities per standards set by Oasis and funding sources.
- Represent Oasis at health fairs and other outreach events.
- Contribute to organizational event planning, setup, logistics, volunteer recruitment, and follow-through

Qualifications
Education & Credentials:
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered.
- CFRE credential is encouraged but not required.
Experience:
- 2 years of professional experience with grant writing, donor cultivation, and stewardship.
- Relevant volunteer, intern, or work experience in fundraising and development will be considered.
- Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and the funding landscape for social services or youth-focused initiatives.
- Desire to work in a busy youth drop-in center and interface with hundreds of people annually, including queer youth of varying identities, racial/ethnic identities, and life experiences.
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and writing skills
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse audiences, including donors, community members, corporate partners, volunteers, etc.
- Knowledge of grant processes, including proposal development, budgeting, and reporting.
- Excellent research and analytical skills to identify relevant funding opportunities.
- Adept at synthesizing information for different audiences within set limits.
- Knowledge of grant application processes, including proposal development, budgeting, and reporting.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to balance working in a team environment along with self-directed projects.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working in settings that require high levels of cultural competence and the ability to relate to individuals from historically marginalized communities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Google cloud-based suite, and Salesforce.
Other Requirements:
- Access to reliable transportation to various locations as required by the role and its responsibilities.
- Washington State Patrol background check, FBI fingerprinting, and NSOPW are required.

Compensation: This is a full-time, non-exempt, regular in-person position. Compensation is dependent upon education and experience.
