Job Description:
Title- Medical Assistant
Reports to- Clinical Supervisor
Roles:
Under the direct supervision of a licensed Physician or Nurse Practitioner, the position implements and documents care for the OB/GYN patient population. Assists provider during examinations and procedures. Provides family centered care to mothers and is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within our office. This position organizes and readies for each day’s activities. Relies on direction from provider and performs tasks and completes them in a timely manner. Reports to assigned provider for all clinical direction and to the clinical supervisor for non-clinical operations (vacation requests, payroll issues, etc.)
Operations:
Duties include, but not limited to the following:
- Retrieve patient from the waiting area
- Assist with examinations based on provider’s direction
- Assist with office procedures based on provider’s direction
- Perform Injections and setup patients for NST.
- Keeps thorough records including OB logs sheets
- Answer patient phone calls with follow-up based on provider direction
- Follow-up with abnormal lab results
- Assuring cleanliness of work area and exam rooms
- Stocking appropriate supplies and assisting others with their duties
- Assist patients with insurance authorizations
- Assisting other team members and mentoring new team members
- Assisting other business office and front office team members
- Keeping proper and complete documentation of patient communication
- Annual review of competencies/proficiencies required for injections, vitals, fetal monitoring, CLIA procedures, and infection control. This list may be expanded beyond these proficiencies as needed.
- Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:
- Position requires work in normal office environment 100% of the time. Exposure to bio-hazardous materials and medical chemicals possible.
Qualifications:
- Requires at minimum Medical Assistant or CNA education/certification, or similar healthcare education/certification plus two years MA experience.
- Five years equivalent experience may be substituted for education requirement.
- Two years clinical experience is required, OB/GYN experience preferred.
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Detailed knowledge of: Patient health cleanliness standards, use of autoclave, and room stocking, support of provider workflow requirements. Must be able to pass demonstrated skills testing in injections, lab tests done in office, vital signs, and NST testing.
Working knowledge of: office protocols.
Ability to: maintain patient confidentiality; develop and maintain effective working relationships with medical colleagues and patients; deal effectively with team; complete appropriate assignments.
Job Type: Full time, hours are Mon-Fri 7:45a-5:00p (may vary based on provider specifics)
Salary: This position's pay range is $18.43/hr to start, and up to the top out of $25.80 based on experience and longevity with our company. Ability to move up to Medical Assistant Tier 2, 3 or 4 with additional internal training and proficiency checks to earn higher ranges of income.
