Position Summary: The Clinician Coverage Coordinator supports the operations of Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG) in providing hospitalist services by coordinating and overseeing administration of clinician schedules at assigned programs based on availability of part-time, full-time, and agency per diem and locum tenens providers, with minimal additional expense. This position is also responsible for filling open shifts as needed to start or stabilize programs. This includes coordinating with OBStat for any internal locum tenens clinicians.

Clinician Onboarding
- Collaborates with the Clinician Experience team on the onboarding activities related to orientation scheduling for all OBHG employed Clinicians as well as agency per diem and locum tenens workforce, including:
- Coordinates with OBHG, OBStat, any other locum tenens partners and hospital administration to schedule required orientation activities for all agency per diem and locum tenens providers and ensures activities are completed in a timely manner and before set deadlines.
- Communicates delays or problems in scheduling of all clinicians, part time and full time employed, per diem, agency per diem and locum tenens workforce to internal stakeholders as necessary to escalate for resolution. Delays related to locum tenens will be communicated directly with locum subvendors for their locum workforce.
Program Operational Support
- Works in collaboration with clinical services departments (Recruitment, Human Resources, Privileging) as well as Operational and Clinical Leadership to identify scheduling needs and source solutions
- Builds and manages clinician schedules for assigned programs, filling all open shifts and emergency openings as they arise:
- Understands hospital contractual requirements to identify available clinical resources for a site
- Within the scope of established limits, analyzes the situation and independently negotiates with clinicians to obtain commitments to fill shifts on an emergency basis while minimizing increased compensation.
- Escalates excess clinician compensation requests to appropriate management for approval
- Develops strong relationships with clinicians communicating via the phone, text and email to understand their needs and gain commitments to fill needed shifts.
- Leverages relationships to persuade and influence clinicians to take on additional shifts
- Ensures confirmation letters are executed for all assigned shifts of agency clinicians
- Keeps all stakeholders apprised of schedule and performs scheduling system maintenance including data entry of new per diem and locum tenens clinicians, preferences of shift assignments, & shift edits
- Documents all scheduling assignments and shift changes in scheduling program; publishes schedules via scheduling program while maintaining a focus on long term goal of 90 days’ notice for clinicians
Essential Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education
- Two to three years of healthcare scheduling or related experience is required
- Proven success with all the following:

Preferred Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education
- Associate's Degree in healthcare field or business administration preferred
- Good computer skills (word-processing, spreadsheet, database management)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision/direction

Annual Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 (Salary, Exempt)
