What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender / Barback position at Obbink Distilling?
Obbink Distilling is seeking a full-time Barback (with Bartending aspirations or capabilities) to join our team with or without previous experience. We are looking for an individual that is a motivated and carries a great personality who is willing to assist in every area of the business (if need be). The primary focus will be as a Barback but other areas of the business to assist are: production (creating products) and distribution (events and event management). We are seeking a self-starter that can impact multiple areas of the business if necessary including marketing & events.
Obbink Distilling is a distillery located in St. Joseph, Minnesota and opened in the Summer of 2023. We create out of this world spirits for down to earth people. We use an innovative rapid aging process that enables us to have upward of 20 different alcohols or flavor profiles available. Obbink is named after our head distiller, Gregg. Gregg worked as a satelitte engineer at Los Alamos Laboratories in New Mexico. His experience within the aeronautic space has molded his bold taste and desire to make innovative whiskey and spirits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cocktail Room (Primary Duties)
- Prep ingredients weekly, managing a grocery list and additional orders to ensure that the distillery is able to be open to guests on-time and with the appropriate ingredients
- Weekly inventory management and ordering (if able)
- Assist in overseeing all areas of the guest experience – greeting at entry, interaction throughout visit, points of service regarding bar and lounge area, making drinks, using recipes and correct measurements.
- Interact with customers and answer questions about the distillery spirits and products.
- Publicly represent Obbink Distilling in a friendly and approachable manner both at work and in personal life.
- Open and set up bar at arrival / break-down and clean bar at close.
- Assist in setup/ break down and general cleaning of bar and facility for private or public events from start to finish, including but not limited to venue and vendor setup, guest greeting, all points of service, guest sendoff, break-down, clean up and closing duties.
Production & Distribution (If Hours Available / Needed)
- Assist Head of Production in warehousing product (bottles, spirits, etc.) and creating distillery spirits. Tasks include, but are not limited to: bottling and labeling product, stirring spirits (as needed)
- Assist Director of Sales with samplings and events - as needed - when additional staff are needed for events. Be willing to learn distillery product names, flavors, and be able to speak to the Company's brand, vision, and direction to customers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory duties, but all distillery employees are expected to assist in training new employees when required.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position requiring availability on Fridays and Saturdays. Times may vary depending on the distillery's needs. Employees may be asked to occasionally work overtime hours.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
