Position Overview:
Object Construction is seeking dedicated and hardworking Grips to join our production and fabrication team. As a Grip, you will play a key role in supporting the physical execution of scenic builds, installations, and custom projects. This role requires a hands-on approach, working closely with the production team to ensure that all elements are constructed, set up, and maintained efficiently and safely. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the warehouse remains clean and organized, contributing to the overall productivity of the workspace. The ideal candidate is versatile, physically fit, and able to follow directions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Setup and Tear Down:
Assist in the assembly and disassembly of scenic elements, sets, and temporary structures for various projects, including events, retail displays, and film/TV productions.Material Handling:
Load and unload materials, ensuring they are transported safely to and from work sites or job locations.Warehouse Maintenance:
Maintain a clean and organized warehouse, ensuring that materials, tools, and equipment are properly stored and accessible. Conduct regular cleanups and inventory checks.Equipment Operation:
Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machinery, including forklifts, scaffolding, and rigging equipment, as required for specific tasks.Site Preparation:
Prepare work areas by clearing obstacles, setting up scaffolding, and ensuring a safe environment for team members to work.Collaborate with Teams:
Work closely with carpenters, metal fabricators, painters, and other skilled tradespeople to assist in the construction and finishing of scenic elements.Problem Solving:
Adapt to unexpected challenges during setup or installation, working with the team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise.Safety Compliance:
Follow all health and safety guidelines, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to company protocols for safe working conditions.Site and Warehouse Clean-Up:
Ensure workspaces and the warehouse are clean and organized at all times, helping with post-project cleanup and returning tools or equipment to their designated areas.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in general labor, scenic fabrication, or event production (preferred but not required).
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn on the job.
- Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor settings and confined spaces.
- Flexibility to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (preferred).
- Forklift certification or other equipment operation experience is a plus.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
