Job Summary
The Field TEMPEST Authority (FTA) Lead/Team Lead provides TEMPEST test inspection support and programmatic services. This role works independently or as part of a team conducting Visual TEMPEST Inspections (VTI) at facilities nationwide. The position requires expertise in TEMPEST testing, mitigation, and compliance to ensure the security and integrity of facilities and communications.
Specific Responsibilities
- Perform VTI inspections independently or as a member of a team.
- Assist in Instrumented TEMPEST Surveys (ITS) under the direction of a Certified TEMPEST Professional II (CTP II) or Certified TEMPEST Professional I (CTPI).
- Maintain certification as a USCG Field Technical Authority (FTA).
- Document TEMPEST survey and inspection activities using VTI guidelines at specific USCG units.
- Assist in identifying and acquiring TEMPEST information necessary for the development of VTI and ITS test plans.
- Assist in the development of VTI inspection reports, documents, and manages VTI-related mitigation measures, while maintaining records and data collection of past VTI efforts
- Assist in the development of contingency plans and risk management options for TEMPEST-related vulnerabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline or a minimum of five (5) years of applicable experience.
- Current certification as a USCG Field Technical Authority (FTA).
- High degree of creative ability, innovative analytical approaches, and engineering skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and work with both abstract and concrete variables.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Formal TEMPEST training at the National TEMPEST School.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- SPAWAR Shipboard Visual TEMPEST Inspector training.
- Experience with TEMPEST equipment training (Lab Testing, Field Testing, etc.).
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Normal office environment and laboratory settings.
- Ability to move through confined and restricted spaces
- Capable of climbing ladders and stairways
- Ability to lift and carry equipment ranging up to 50 – 75 lbs.
Travel Requirements
- 40-60%
