Job Title :

Senior Vice President, Venue Operations

Pay Details :

The annual base salary range for this position in California is $300,000 to $400,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate's geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education / training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.

The Senior Vice President of Venue Operations leads a diverse team of functional leaders who support producing outstanding and memorable events across the OCVIBE ecosystem of venues and performance spaces. These venues include the Honda Center arena, OCVIBE's new state-of-the-art concert hall (opening in 2026), and the Grove Theater. This role's leadership will ensure exceptional guest experience, operational efficiency, and financial performance across all locations. This role requires a dynamic leader with extensive experience in venue management, a deep understanding of the live entertainment industry, and a passion for delivering unforgettable events. This leader fosters a culture of outstanding guest service, team member engagement, and operational excellence, reflecting our company's core values and corporate vision.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership : Develop and implement the overall operational strategy for all performance venues, aligning with corporate goals and market requirements
  • Operational Excellence : Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards, local regulations, and company policies, and enhance operational processes to drive efficiency and guest satisfaction (GSAT) as well as Employee Satisfaction (ESAT)
  • Financial Management : Manage budget planning and financial performance for all venues, including forecasting, cost control, and revenue generation strategies
  • Team Development : Lead and mentor a high-performing team of venue managers and staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability
  • Guest Experience : Champion a customer-first approach, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all patrons through innovative service strategies and feedback mechanisms
  • Collaboration : Work closely with marketing, booking, and production teams to optimize event scheduling, promotional strategies, and logistical operations
  • Stakeholder Engagement : Build and maintain strong relationships with local government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance venue presence and community engagement
  • Innovation and Trends : Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in venue operations to continually enhance our offerings and operational strategies

New Venue Operations

  • Work with the Chief Venue Management Officer to establish the leadership structure required to expand arena operations into our two new venues (Grove Theater and OCVIBE Concert Hall)
  • Lead the recruitment and selection of leaders, reporting to them, who will oversee and manage these two new venues
  • Oversee the strategic and tactical planning for the opening of these two new venues and then supervise their operations on a day-to-day basis
  • Define the standard operating procedures and brand standards according to which these venues will be operated
  • Define, document, train, implement, and optimize a system of standard operating procedures and brand standards to bring consistency, uniformity, and scalability to all core operational functions
  • Ensure that best practices are deployed consistently across all venues
  • Document business plans for each venue
  • Update these plans annually and report monthly on results about forecast and budget
  • Guest Service

  • Define, implement, and optimize a comprehensive guest service program, the goal of which will be to bring consistency and quality of service to all OCVIBE venues across the district
  • Collaborate with internal consumer insights leaders to understand and leverage voice-of-the-customer (VOC) data and feedback
  • Use this data to drive ongoing improvement in guest satisfaction levels
  • Develop processes to share VOC data and feedback with managers and line-level team members when appropriate
  • Employee Engagement

  • Develop strategies to drive employee engagement in support of the company's goal of being the top-rated employer in Orange County
  • Ensure that team members at all levels of the organization know that their voices are heard, understood, and valued
  • While a significant amount of the work required to host an arena event takes place "behind the scenes" and out of sight of guests and most team members (i.e., load-in work, change-over work converting hockey to concerts and vice-versa), production support, janitorial and housekeeping are all examples of this "unsung hero" work), take steps to ensure that this kind of work receives the same level of attention, engagement, appreciation, and support, as the balance of more visible "guest facing" functions do
  • Capital Planning

  • Define and document forecasts for annual capital requirements for all venues, inclusive of both planned maintenance, capital improvements, and strategic enhancements
  • Event Production, Planning and Coordination

  • Work closely with Booking and Programming teams to understand the unique needs of each event
  • Supervise Event Managers in their coordination and execution of contracts and riders
  • Ensure that the needs of artists, promoters, and managers are properly attended to
  • Collaborate extensively with Special Events to find ways to leverage our venues in creative and unique ways to boost activation of OCVIBE and grow revenues
  • Food and Retail Operations

  • While Food and Retail Operations are not overseen directly by this position, the Senior Vice President of Venue Operations must collaborate closely with leaders within these departments
  • Keep all parties abreast of ongoing changes within the business to share ideas and perspectives, solve challenges collaboratively, and find ways to grow and optimize these businesses within the context of venue operations
  • Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field; MBA preferred
  • 10 years of experience in venue management, operations, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale venue operations, including budget management and team leadership
  • Deep knowledge of the live entertainment industry, including event logistics, ticketing, and customer engagement strategies
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, and able to inspire and motivate diverse teams
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing circumstances
  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience
