The annual base salary range for this position in California is $165,000 to $185,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education / training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Real Estate Accounting to join our dynamic team at OCVIBE, a leading mixed-use real estate development company. This role requires a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with 7 years of relevant experience to lead and manage the accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting critical initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of complex real estate accounting, including debt, ground leases, cost allocations, intercompany transactions, and project accounting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met
- Prepare and review accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP, including consolidation and eliminations
- Ensure timely submission of financial reporting to stakeholders, including management and external parties
- Manage and review account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Handle complex accounting areas, including : ? Debt and interest expense accounting
- Ground lease obligations and reporting
- Cost allocation methodologies across multiple projects and entities
- Intercompany transactions, including reconciliations and eliminations
- Oversee project accounting processes, ensuring accurate tracking and allocation of development costs
- Partner with project managers and development teams to monitor budgets, forecasts, and actual project expenditures
- Provide financial analysis and insights for ongoing and completed projects
- Lead and support critical initiatives, such as system implementations, policy updates, and process optimizations
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
- Identify and address opportunities for improvement in accounting processes and reporting systems
- Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment
- Work cross-functionally with development, operations, legal, and finance teams to provide accounting support for business activities
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Prepare for and manage internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support
