JOB SUMMARY:
Professionally manage the patient process for hearing services to include; testing and fitting prospective hearing impaired patients with hearing devices. Maintain complete records for all patients; perform follow-up visits and calls as needed. Facilitate credit transactions as well as payment and return transactions within hearing suite. Complete all documentation requirements and follow standard operating procedures. Project a professional and clean image to all patients to support and enhance the reputation of the Ophthalmology practice and ensure repeat and referral business.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- State licensed as a Hearing Instrument Specialist/ Dispenser
- At least two years of relevant work experience preferred with prior sales success.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must comply with all Practice standard operating procedures and performance standards.
- Must be flexible with work schedule.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Good people skills – able to communicate with and among diverse people effectively.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must maintain professional image and demeanor
- Must have exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
- Requires the ability to be a self-starter and work with autonomy
- Need to demonstrate strong organizational skills and time management
- Test prospective patients for potential hearing loss. Complete hearing evaluations must include sound field, air and bone conduction, SRT, LDL and MCL.
- Counsel patients as to the results of their hearing tests. Discuss referrals if needed. Otherwise, fit prospective patients with devices as needed. Make recommendations as to the make and model of the product based on hearing loss situation and lifestyle needs.
- Provide appropriate follow up care for all patients including check-up schedule.
- Manage hearing suite while maintaining a cohesive and supportive relationship with the practice personnel. Maintain a clean, clutter free, working environment. Ensure professional attire based on practice’s standards.
- Maintain the schedule for the hearing suite and arrange for appointments to be made, confirmed and rescheduled as needed.
- Follow all policies, procedures and pricing requirements established by the practice.
- Provide support for marketing initiatives such as patient seminars, patient correspondence, call campaigns, lunch and learns, etc.
- May need to assist in sourcing and setting up and ongoing maintenance needs of all necessary equipment and provide all state mandated materials and forms.
- Work closely with defined hearing instrumentation source and maintain product inventory as needed.
- Process and manage all warranty and repair activity as needed.
Physical Demands:
Equal amounts of prolonged walking, standing, sitting, are required to effectively accomplish the tasks. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
