What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crane Operator NCCCO Certified position at OCCI, Inc.?
A Certified Crane Operator is responsible for safe and proper operation of cranes and heavy equipment on jobsites. The crane operator is the primary contact the Superintendent and foreman will have on-site for information related to the readiness of equipment to perform the work.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Looking for TLL and LBC certified operators.
- Attendance of daily Safety meetings and briefings to understand the work plan of the day;
- Maintain Crane certifications and renew in a timely manner
- **Experience operating a crane off of a barge a plus
- Operate in accordance with Company standards and certification requirements
- Ability to understand a critical lift plan
- Submit certifications to OCCI Human Resources for proper filing in training system
- Complete full daily crane inspection prior to operation
- Ensure all required gear and manuals are posted and stowed properly in rig prior to daily operation
- Develop lift plans with Foreman
- Responsible for load chart knowledge and coordinating picks with foreman ahead of time to ensure safe picks
- Observe and coach riggers with setting load for safe picks
- Expertise in crane signals and ensuring signalperson is prepared for proper communication
- Investigate and remain aware of equipment’s maintenance history in relation to hours used to ensure proper periodic maintenance is scheduled with Equipment Manager and performed on-site.
- Communicate with foreman any issues or concerns with rig immediately
- Perform crane set-up onsite in advance with foreman and laborers (when possible)
- Perform other construction duties when needed
- Assist with training other crew members on proper rigging, signaling and operation, when needed
- Assist with coaching other OCCI, Inc. operators on 3d party testing
Qualifications:
- Prior experience with load charts and ability to perform lift calculations timely in the field
- Ability to successfully complete and renew as required 3rd party certification written and practical timed crane exams for each category required;
- Certified OSHA Rigging / Signalperson
- Prior crane operation in a heavy construction environment
- “Safety Critical” position requires regular vision checks and clean drug testing
- Maintain physical requirements of 3rd party testing organization
- Ability to work outside
- Knowledge of safety regulations
- Familiar with computers / tablets for inspection submittals
- Desire to learn and grow skill set
