What are the responsibilities and job description for the Onsite Construction Quality Control Manager position at OCCI, Inc.?
This position oversees onsite the overall testing, inspection and development of producing quality construction products on Army Corps of Engineer (USACE) projects. We are looking for someone who has not only done inspections, but who pays attention to detail, is reliable, professional and will develop a rapport with all members of the project team to build a successful project. This position is onsite at construction projects and candidates should be comfortable moving around and being onsite around heavy construction.
Essential Duties:
- Perform inspections of construction activities including welding and machinery installation and concrete operations to ensure conformance with project codes, specifications and quality standards.
- Implement the CQC plan on site, as approved or modified by the Client
- Assist with compilation of work method preparatory documentation for approval by Owner
- Maintain and compile certifications of on-site laborers for submittal and approval by Owner.
- Ensure all material testing specifications are met, including preparation of test reports for review and overseeing any outside third party testing personnel while on-site.
- Develop a successful working relationship with Client representatives on-site.
- Administer Quality Control reporting and upload into Client’s documentation systems.
- Capacity to train others in inspection processes and best practices.
- Lead root cause analysis on non-conforming work product
- Work with project team on preparation of accident reports and hazard analysis.
- Work with project manager and Superintendent on-site to deliver project on schedule.
- Prepare WPS’s and revise when necessary.
- Prepare quality reports and inspections for submittal in a timely manner and update company software to reflect project status.
- Be a team player.
Qualifications/Education:
- Degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management, with a minimum of 5 years experience working on lock and dams or similar style work – OR
- Ten years of construction experience on similar types of projects.
- Prior Completion, or ability to successfully complete Construction Quality Management for Contractors Course;
- Prior experience with USACE CQC / RMS programs a plus
- Skilled at reading drawings and construction plans.
- Familiarity with welding processes, I.e.: SMAW, SAW, GTAW, FCAW, etc.
- Team Player with solid communication skills.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft suite)
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb on a construction site.
- Work extensive hours in a non-climate controlled environment.
