What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Finance & Accounting position at Occidental Management?
The Director of Finance and Accounting is a key strategic leader in the organization who is responsible for developing and managing all accounting operations. The primary goal for this position is to provide strategic and operational financial direction or recommendations needed to improve site performance. Daily tasks include preparing customer price bids; A/R; A/P; managing the general ledger accounts; inventory/cost accounting; and recognizing revenue.
Essential Duties
Oversee all accounting operations including but not limited to A/R, A/P, G/L, cost accounting and revenue recognition.
Manage month-end closing and prepare monthly financial statements and other operational reports for site.
Analyze variances and communicate explanations to management with recommended actions.
Prepare forecasts and/or budgets of income statement, balance sheets, and statement of cash flows.
Collaborate with teams at all levels of the organization to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations, and develop KPI analysis procedures.
Develop, monitor, and enforce internal controls necessary to ensure accuracy and minimize financial risk.
Develop ad hoc financial monitoring reports and/or tools as needed to measure or communicate business outcomes and drive timely business decisions.
Assist with product cost and/or customer bid development.
Assist CEO with financing, investment, or M & A activities as required.
As the company grows, this role will be responsible for building the accounting team which will require recruitment, training, and management experience.

Education And Experience
5-to-7 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Job history should show continuous growth in skills, tasks, and taking on increasingly complex responsibilities over time.
At least 5 years of experience managing a team of 2 or more direct reports with varying degrees of experience and/or job-related knowledge.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Microsoft Office/365 Suite proficiency necessary for producing various interoffice communications, establishing accurate financial reports, and communicating key results to management.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
CMA, CFM, CPA or similar certification is highly preferred, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Expertise in tracking, monitoring, and reporting on manufacturing KPI’s including but not limited to: total cycle time; capacity utilization; scrap rate; COGS; yield (FTT); inventory turns.
Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques and proficiency with financial statement analysis and projections.
Cost and inventory accounting knowledge necessary to calculate key metrics; explain operational outcomes; and implement internal processes.
Proficient in manufacturing-specific ERP such as Cetech, Epicor, Acumatica, or NetSuite. Job experience should include a new system or process implementation, managing financial data, and/or developing system-driven reports.
Strong understanding of manufacturing production processes, materials, and inventory management.
Excellent management skills which are necessary to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Advanced mathematical and analytical skills necessary to interpret, calculate, and forecast business outcomes.
Problem-solving skills which are necessary to identify and resolve issues related to production costs, inventory, and other operational financial outcomes.
Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities while meeting strict deadlines.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
Ability to interpret, apply, and update internal systems to comply with new regulations or evolving business needs.
Ability to lead and develop others as accounting department grows.
