We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of General Maintenance with our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Wichita, Kansas.
Essential Job Duties :
Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority.
Perform asbestos abatement as necessary to complete a job: including proper Personal Protective Equipment, labeling, signage, and licensing.
Proficient in the use of hand tools
Coordinate repairs with other crafts and contractors
Must be able to pass the Crane Operator Certification tes t (written & demonstrated ) that i s given by a National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators certificated instructor.
Use and install chain hoists or any other lifting device required for rigging of equipment and hardware through the plant. Demonstrate proficiency in use of crane hand signals
Drive all heavy equipment including, bobcat, winch truck, vacuum truck, dump truck, large and small crane, backhoe, bulldozer, cherry picker, front end loader, etc., to work site utilizing knowledge of driving laws and interpreting driving signals and directs activities of rigger in placing blocks and out rigger to prevent capsizing.
Read and interpret load charts and makes proper sling and choker selection using math skills to calculate the load when driving heavy equipment
Responsible for identifying hazardous work conditions such as unstable ground, high winds and traffic congestion. Also responsible for checking operational condition of equipment prior to use and performing regular maintenance activities.
Operates forklift to transport materials or equipment around site as necessary. Operate manlift to access work areas.
Applies insulation material to exposed surfaces of structures such as air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, etc. Selects appropriate insulation material, brushes adhesives on, fits, wraps and attaches insulation to structures.
Builds scaffolds for turnarounds or for other work as needed. May build inside vessels if necessary.
Performs minor maintenance after reading work orders. May include painting, plumbing, carpentry, tile work, roofing, siding, etc. May include moving furniture.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
3 or more years of relevant work experience in an industrial environment.
Must be able to read process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mechanical drawings and follow mechanical specifications.
Able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed to maintain a 24/7 operating plant.
Ability and willingness to serve as member of Emergency Response Team.
Ability to read, speak, and write English.
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
Must possess valid driver’s license.
Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs , climb ladders and stairs. Must be able to work in heights and work out of doors continuously. Walking, bending, stooping is required . Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
Additional Desired Qualifications
Good working knowledge of SAP.
