Job Summary: The Senior Manager of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) will lead the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive EHS programs and initiatives at a client’s research laboratory. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and driving continuous improvement in EHS performance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and corporate standards.
- Conduct regular EHS audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage the Industrial Hygiene Program.
- Develop and implement annual goals to drive site safety culture.
- Audit and update all site safety programs.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
- Provide EHS training and education to employees at all levels to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into business operations and decision-making processes.
- Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics, trends, and progress toward goals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and manage relationships with external stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory changes to ensure continuous improvement in EHS programs.
- Manage and mentor EHS team members, fostering professional development and growth.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in EHS program management, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices to include Safety Management Systems, Industrial Hygiene, Business Continuity, Biosafety, Contractor Safety, Electrical Safety, Lockout Tagout, Emergency Response, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Fire Safety, Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, Fire Safety, Respiratory Protection, Spill Control and Countermeasure, Waste Minimization, Root Cause Analysis, Radiation Safety, and Machine Guarding.
- Ability to manage program reviews using document control software.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to influence and drive change.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is required.
