What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor position at Occupational Training Center?
- Ensure that all vehicles are maintained by all applicable safety and legal operating regulations;
- Manage an annual operating budget;
- Manage fleet maintenance computer software system to establish and maintain preventative maintenance repair schedules and manage major repair activities to minimize fleet downtime. Schedule preventative maintenance.
- Maintain service and repair cost records on all equipment. Manage inventories and records for replacement parts, fluids, and fuels.
- Develop and manage fleet maintenance budget.
- Manage fueling service and reporting related to consumption, assigned and recorded daily activities and performance of fleet maintenance staff to ensure that their training and performance were acceptable for their respective duties.
- Work directly alongside fleet mechanics to perform fleet repairs.
- Maintain acceptable quality of the fleet maintenance program efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Adhere to continued improvement of training, health, and safety quality standards for fleet maintenance program and employees.
- Maintain accurate vehicle service records, worker safety records, incident records, training records, and employee records to ensure standards and contractual performance obligations.
- Commits to the mission of the OTC for the employment, training, and development of people with disabilities.
- Maintain order and cleanliness of fleet maintenance repair facility.
- Adheres to record-keeping activities most efficiently and at economical costs, consistent with prescribed quality, accuracy, and performance standards.
- Promptly reports vehicle and safety problems to the safety officer, transportation manager, and, if required, regulatory authorities.
- Participates in an effective program to address health and safety training and policy development to minimize accidents.
- Conducts training programs with department managers and supervisors for all personnel and maintains records of training levels for each trained employee.
- Maintaining performance standards and operational efficiency is required to minimize fleet out-of-service time.
- Assists managers and supervisors with driver training and development needs related to fleet operations and maintenance.
- Logs in incidents and damage repair costs.
- Records improper health and safety program activity.
- Attends and maintains records of safety meetings and training programs.
- Works jointly with the transportation manager and safety officer to ensure safety standards are followed, including OSHA Standards, DOT, NJDMV Reglations & Standards, and O & M Manual Standards.
- Develop and manage fleet maintenance budget.
- On an ongoing basis, it supports the collection operation efficiency to effectively reduce the per-ton cost of collection services by reducing repair costs, out-of-service time, and accident losses
- Investigate employee vehicle concerns.
- Evaluates driver adherence and performance to preventive maintenance procedures
- Maintains maintenance employee daily records and accounts for employee performance of fleet mechanics.
- Participates in job interviews, employee orientation, training, and evaluations.
- Public and Customer Relations
- Respect resident property and report damage to supervisors.
- Communicate daily with supervisors regarding unique vehicle problems or needs.
- Conducts vehicle damage assessments and provides authorities with supporting incident documentation.
- To maintain a fleet of /- 120 vehicles and supervise a staff of approximately four (4) mechanical tradespeople.
- Supervises the maintenance servicing of all designated vehicles and equipment to minimize out-of-service time.
- Improve safety and vehicle maintenance through efficiency and increased worker awareness of preventive maintenance policies.
- Responsible for the safety and service work of assigned workers.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
