What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Coordinator position at Occupational Training Center?
- Oversee and manage daily transportation operations, ensuring timely and safe transport of individuals served.
- Develop and coordinate transportation routes, adjusting as needed for changes such as callouts, absences, and relocations.
- Ensure all vehicles in the fleet are properly maintained, serviced, and remain in safe working condition, scheduling regular inspections and necessary repairs.
- Monitor compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including DOT requirements.
- Recruit, train, supervise drivers, and substitute drivers ensuring they meet all certification and safety training requirements.
- In partnership with colleagues (including those in other departments), develop and implement safety protocols to protect passengers, staff, and others, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient scheduling and communications regarding transportation needs.
- Coordinate backup drivers and contingency plans to prevent service disruptions due to staffing shortages.
- Serve as a driver if necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, driver certifications, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
- Address and resolve any transportation-related issues, including delays, accidents, or complaints.
- Manage all fuel purchases for OTC Transportation drivers.
- Monitor fuel usage, manage fleet expenses, and optimize cost-effective transportation solutions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for emergency transportation situations, ensuring a swift and appropriate response.
- Foster a culture of safety and accountability among all transportation staff.
- Stay up to date on industry best practices, regulator changes, and advancements in transportation safety and efficiency.
- Willingly and effectively cooperate with OTC Services, The Department of Human Services, The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and other licensing or state agency or local municipalities in any inspections and investigations, upon request.
- Manage all OTC Services’ Transportation Driver’s, their schedules, workloads, and requests for scheduled time off and the hiring of all new OTC Services Drivers.
- Manage all employee call outs on a daily basis and report to drivers to efficiently manage the daily routes.
- Coordinate with the OTC Services management in the event of inclement weather and weigh in with professional recommendations for the safe transportation of individuals to and from 2 Manhattan Drive.
- Coordinate with the OTC Services Service Manager for routine maintenance, scheduled repairs, and immediate roadside needs for all of the Benchwork vehicles.
- Assist the on-site maintenance Dept. with jockeying vans and buses if needed.
- Oversight of the pre and post trip vehicle inspections to ensure the safe operation of the vehicles on a daily basis.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections on vehicles and transportation procedures.
