Position Title: Lead Member Service Representative
Department: Branch Operations
Status: Full-time, Non-exempt
Reports To: Branch Manager
Salary Range: $29.39 to $32.34 per Hour
Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union is a faith-based credit union providing financial services to the Catholic community and employees of Select Employee Groups since 1969.
Position Location: This position is primarily based in Molloy University’s Rockville Centre campus, as well as in either our Oceanside or Seaford Branch location. The Lead Member Service Representative will be based at Molloy University four (4) days per week, approximately eight (8) months of the calendar year. One day per week, as well as during summer months and school holidays, he or she will work in either the Oceanside or Seaford branch.
Summary
Working under the guidance of a Branch Manager, the Lead Member Service Representative will effectively manage branch operations, develop staff, and promote the sales and service culture. He or she will provide solutions to members’ financial needs by suggesting Credit Union products and services, handle problems and inquiries, and perform transactions with accuracy and minimal supervision in a professional manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and strengthen member relationships by greeting members in a professional manner.
- Provide superior member service and respond to member questions and concerns accurately and efficiently.
- Open new member accounts, IRAs, CDs, and assist members with their banking needs.
- Supervise Part-time Teller staff and maintain adequate staffing.
- Assist in the coaching, training, and development of new and existing Part-time Tellers.
- Assist Part-time Tellers in solving member problems and serve as an operational reference.
- Provide solutions to members’ financial needs by understanding each individual member’s situation.
- Suggest Credit Union products and services utilizing Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union’s preferred method of selling.
- Maintain all Credit Union members and employee related business in strictest confidence.
- Assist with consumer loan production for branch by inputting loans into core system. * Understand branch security at all levels to include opening and closing of the branch area.
- Responsible for ordering cash and overseeing monthly cash counts in compliance with established guidelines.
- Refer all inquiries related to mortgages, HELOCs, and other real estate loan products to Lending Officers offered by the Credit Union.
- Handle requests from members for transfers of shares to loan payments, share withdrawals, CD transactions, line of credit advances, and any other requests received from members in-person, over the telephone, or other electronic means.
- Support the Credit Union’s financial mission and vision by delivering a consistent, professional approach that always adheres to the Credit Union’s Four Pillars and expectations.
- Ensure all member forms are complete with appropriate signatures, disclosures, supporting documents, and are properly scanned in the member’s file.
- Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all Credit Union products and services that are handled or promoted by Member Service Representatives.
- Observe Credit Union guidelines, policies, and procedures to adhere to compliance regulations and security standards such as maintaining dual control and identifying fraudulent activity to prevent potential loss.
- Accommodate flexible work schedule to meet branch needs, including evenings and weekends. Provide coverage at other locations as needed.
- Promote the Credit Union through community involvement by participating in Molloy University events such as Student Orientation, Family Weekend, and Student Move-In.
- Perform other duties as required for efficient operation of the Credit Union including, but not limited to, Teller coverage and travel between branches.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- At this time, this position will supervise and mentor Part-time Tellers hired from Molloy University’s student population.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma is required, and an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two to four years’ related experience, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required.
- A self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision is necessary.
- Must possess good communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
- Cash handling experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations
- New York State Notary Public License and Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) Registration are required.
Computer Skills
- Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency required.
