Objectives

  • The Service Pool Technician provides general pool maintenance & repair services within the Ocean Quest Pools service area. With the service manager, the technician promotes quality services for all customers, particularly in the areas of water chemistry and overall pool maintenance.
  • The Service Pool Technician maintains a valuable relationship with the customer by providing outstanding service and advice. The technician represents Ocean Quest Pools, their knowledge, expertise, professionalism and integrity on the job sight.

Operations

  • Once the relationship between the customer and Ocean Quest Pools has been established, the customer will be assigned to one of our Service Pool Technicians. The technician’s route will be planned according to geographic location, as to limit the number of miles and eliminate multiple trips or techs in the same location.
  • The technician will maintain accurate service work documentation in online service logs provided by the service department. The entire procedure of the project should be described in detail on each service log including, homeowner information, weather conditions, water chemistry, equipment condition, materials used and time on the job.

Financial Management

  • It is the responsibility of the Service Pool Technician to ensure he is operating in the most financially efficient way possible. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Ensure the scheduled maintenance of work vehicle is performed.
  • Only qualified purchases on company credit card will be approved.
  • Company cell phone must not be abused.
  • All materials must be signed out of warehouse to ensure an accurate inventory. If a part is not used, please sign it back in.
  • Keep materials on your truck that you will use only on a regular basis (e.g. Tabs, shock, salt, acid, seals, D.E., o-rings, etc.)
  • Prices of parts, materials and services must be accurate before performing work to ensure profitability.
  • Keep multiple visits to a minimum.
  • Keep track of your time. (on job, lunch, etc.)
  • Be prepared to start each workday at 8 a.m.

Facilities and Resources

  • Tech is issued a company credit card. Its uses include; fuel, vehicle maintenance and materials needed for route stops. Other purchases on company card must be pre-approved by the finance department.
  • Tech is issued a company vehicle. Its uses include transportation of self and materials to verified route locations. A lunch may be taken in a company vehicle on a daily basis. Unplanned stops (e.g. Doctor’s visits, DMV, home visit) should be approved by the department head prior to stop. Company vehicles should only be taken home with the permission of Lew Akins.
  • Tech is issued a company telephone. Company phones must not be used for personal calls. Phones will not send or receive text, media, pictures, or video. You may use your phone to make a brief video or take pictures of pools and equipment while in the field. In-Network phone calls are unlimited on our plan.
  • The warehouse and its materials available to service personnel must be recorded on distribution sheet prior to daily departure. Materials not used must be signed back in no later than the following business day. NO ACCEPTIONS.
  • Service logs are available to all service employees. These tickets must be completed and turned in by the tech no later than Thursday 9:00 a.m. to be included on that week's paycheck.
  • Employees are given forty hours of vacation time annually, which must be submitted two-weeks prior to the first day of the requested time off.

Measures of Performance

  • Company credit card statements are issued on a monthly basis. It is your responsibility to maintain your receipts and match them to the statement each month. A personal purchase on company credit card is grounds for immediate termination.
  • Company vehicles require regular maintenance. We hold a corporate account at Quality Tire. It is your responsibility to keep up with maintenance records. Tires may be changed and rotated as well. Abuse of company vehicles is grounds for immediate termination.
  • Company vehicles should be kept clean. Take time each week to ensure your vehicle’s interior is organized. You may use the tools provided in the warehouse to wash your vehicle.
  • Paychecks are dependent on completed work orders. Thorough documentation is required for compensation. Each tech must turn in their own work the Thursday prior to payday.
  • We expect all employees to be ready to work at 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. Excellent attendance is crucial to the success of our department. Any unauthorized leave of absence is grounds for immediate termination.
