Job Description:
The DC Equipment Associate role within the Distribution Center (DC) at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” or “Company”) will assist the Picking Team Leader with the work scheduled for the day. This role will ensure the correct freight is placed on the conveyor to be placed by Robotic Arm at the induction lanes and make sure the correct label information is placed by Print and Apply equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and comprehend warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Prepare Robotic Arm and Print and Apply equipment for operation.
- Transport freight using power equipment, including but not limited to, movement from staging areas to conveyor as well as removing pallets from the area.
- Communicate with other team members to ensure proper freight is brought to staging areas.
- Verify freight meets SOP guidelines prior to plastic pallet staging.
- Stage full wood pallets onto plastic pallets to meet daily schedules.
- Load staged pallets onto the conveyor.
- Scan License Plate Numbers to ensure correct information is sent to multiple databases.
- Adjust Print and Apply equipment as needed based on freight height and SOP guidelines.
- Sort wood and plastic pallets at disassembly zones.
- Transport empty plastic pallets to the staging area.
- Inspect the output of the machines and identify any issues.
- Resolve any label issues for cases diverted into “JackPot” lanes from different cells to a centralized location.
- Monitor and control the machine performance and settings. Be comfortable operating a Programmable Logic Controller.
- Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in work area.
- Ensure that all products are properly accounted for.
- Complete all necessary records, reports, and logs in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure the optimal utilization of space.
- Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety and in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations as well as other appropriate standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school degree or equivalent is required.
- English speaking, reading, and comprehension skills.
- Familiarity with Material Handling Equipment is required.
- Previous machine operating experience in a warehouse facility, or similar relevant experience is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The DC warehouse environment is characterized by temperature extremes, noise, movement of conveyors and equipment, and other conditions associated with the operation of a high volume distribution center.
- Responsible for physical activities including using equipment, positioning self to properly complete tasks, ascending and descending to heights of 20 feet or more safely and without limitation as well as moving and transporting merchandise on a frequent basis
- Should be able to lift and move 50 lbs of material on a regular basis.
- Should be able to bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above the head.
- Works primarily in a DC environment. Must be able to remain stationary and/or continually move for up to 10 - 12 hours per day.
