Job Description:
The Workflow Lead role within the Distribution Center (“DC”) of Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) will assist the DC Area Manager to ensure accurate and timely scheduling and work flow is processed timely and accurately within a specific area of the distribution center as assigned. This role leads, directs, and monitors the process and equipment within the designated area to ensure productivity targets, support course correction, and troubleshoot to keep service active and prevent service failures. This role ensures that schedules are correctly implemented and that jobs are completed properly and accurately through the application of clear communication.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Train team members, as needed, according to Company training guidelines and management direction.
- Communicate staffing and employee performance concerns to leadership.
- Participate in team work assignments and encourage greater team effort and harmony.
- Monitor productivity and provide real-time feedback; report any challenges as needed.
- Ensure systemic transactions are conducted accurately and in accordance with operational procedure.
- Inspect and verify the operational process to maximize the use of the labor. Ensure efficient use of the team, staging standards are maintained, as well as maximize productivity and accuracy.
- Coordinate with matrix partners and leadership to ensure a steady flow of goods and production.
- Support the set up of the work area and equipment for daily operation as well as validate and ensure adequate supplies are maintained
- Conduct daily review of equipment and communicate any concerns or issues as necessary; coordinate with maintenance directly for resolution.
- Assemble team members and communicate production expectations and goals for each run.
- Align team to unload product, stage, and remove pallets as well as shrink wrap from the work area.
- Act as the first escalation process for team members to support resolution of work questions and issues as they arise.
- Monitor throughput performance, and coordinate any concerns to leadership.
- Responsible for resolving any warehouse management system (WMS) and systemic issues.
- Communicate any corrections or exceptions needed to the internal cell team and leadership.
- Monitor and control the machine performance and settings for each production run.
- Review reporting to validate that all work is being processed in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, keeping the area clear of debris and dunnage.
- Complete all necessary records, reports, and logs in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure the optimal utilization of space.
- Maintain clean up reports to ensure waves are closed correctly.
- Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety in accordance with OSHA and other appropriate regulatory standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School degree or equivalent is required.
- Familiarity with material handling equipment is required.
- Previous machine operating experience in a warehouse facility or similar experience is required.
- Direct experience leading a team and working in a distribution center environment is preferred.
- Excellent decision making and communication skills are required.
- English speaking, reading, and comprehension skills; bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Above average knowledge of the WMS and labeling software to help troubleshoot.
- Proficient in Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The DC warehouse environment is characterized by temperature extremes, noise, movement of conveyors and equipment, and other conditions associated with the operation of a high volume distribution center.
- Responsible for physical activities including, but not limited to, using equipment, positioning self to properly complete tasks, ascending and descending to heights of twenty (20) feet or more safely and without limitation as well as moving and transporting merchandise on a frequent basis.
- Should be able to lift and move fifty (50) lbs of material on a regular basis.
- Should be able to bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above the head.
- Works primarily in a DC environment. Must be able to remain stationary or continually move for up to 10 - 12 hours per day.
