Ocean State Research Institute is seeking full-time Postdoctoral Researcher(s).
We have great opportunity for Postdoctoral Researcher(s) to join our research team at the Ocean State Research Institute, affiliated with Alpert Medical School of Brown University, in Providence, RI. The laboratory investigates mechanisms underlying vascular dysfunction and cardiac dysfunction seen in pulmonary vascular diseases. The laboratory utilizes state-of-the-art molecular and cell biological, biochemical, and physiological approaches as well as preclinical animal models to address clinically relevant questions associated with pulmonary hypertension.
Ocean State Research Institute of the Providence Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System: Providence is a unique research site in the heart of academic-rich southern New England. Ocean State Research Institute is the non-profit research organization of the Providence VA Healthcare System. The fundamental mission of research at VA is to advance the healthcare of Veterans.
Responsibility: The postdoctoral researcher will study mechanisms in the pathogenesis of right ventricular dysfunction in settings of pulmonary hypertension using in vitro cell culture, animal models, and human tissues. The postdoc will be responsible for generating and analyzing experimental data, presenting the data in lab meetings and local/national/international conferences, and assisting in manuscript and grant preparations. The postdoc needs to be experienced in regular biochemical assays, including Western blot, immunoprecipitation, qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. The postdoc will have a chance to work on single cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and/or proteomics. Prior experience with cardiac function assessment (e.g., echocardiography, in vivo hemodynamics) and/or rodent microsurgery are preferred. The postdoc is also expected to be a great resource in training and supervising technicians and students.
Qualifications: Candidates should have the following qualifications: PhD, MD, or equivalent degree, relevant research experience, ability to work with small rodents, and willingness to develop and learn new experimental methods. The successful candidate needs to be creative and highly motivated, possess an exceptional work ethic, have effective verbal and written communication skills, and work well independently as well as in a team. Candidate must have US citizenship or be a permanent resident.
