Job Description:
The IT Network Administrator role at OSJL serves as a technical subject matter expert on IT network infrastructure and services. This position provides advanced support and maintenance for network hardware, on-premise and cloud logical networks, SD-WAN and vendor-provided connectivity services. The IT Network Administrator role works closely with IT managers and business leads to implement projects and new network infrastructure as needed. The role aims to ensure that the network infrastructure and associated connectivity remains stable and available to both direct business users as well as dependent edge applications that ride on centralized networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resolve escalated incidents and problems via ITSM software related to network infrastructure, including but not limited to the following:
- Network hardware, such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points;
- Network wiring; and
- APC units in network cabinets
- Fulfill configuration and change requests for the following components:
- Switch port and VLAN configuration;
- Firewall ACL rules;
- VPN clients and standing tunnels;
- SSID configuration; and
- Web Content filtering
- Perform proactive maintenance on the following network components:
- Firmware updates and hardware lifecycle replacements for switches, routers, firewalls, and access points;
- Review network device logs and/or alerts for leading indicators of issues;
- Physical cabling and network closets for cleanliness and standards compliance; and APC units servicing the battery replacements
- Maintain global infrastructure monitoring software tools that audit all IT infrastructure components for availability and provide historical views of health stats and uptime.
- Maintain vendor relationships by on-boarding, dispatching, and auditing third party networking support services such as break-fix, preventative maintenance, and wiring installation.
- Work with procurement team members to ensure that Company-wide services are not at risk of interruption.
- Work with internet service providers to order and provision new connectivity services for all OSJL locations including, but not limited to, corporate and retail sites.
- Maintain meticulous organization over tasks, prioritizing and tracking tasks across diverse projects to deliver consistent progress updates and prevent oversights.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in computer networking or comparable structured training while on the job is preferred.
- 3 or more years of experience working on network infrastructure in a mid-size or large IT organization is required.
- Mastery of networking fundamentals and experience applying them in network troubleshooting scenarios is required.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANS, ACLs and other networking support services used in enterprise environments is required.
- Ability to understand and create standards driven networking diagrams and technical documentation is required.
- Practical experience directly configuring network equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, web content filtering and access points is required.
Work Environment:
- Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
potential. - Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.
- Work may be completed outside of the Company locations. The role is responsible for setting up a professional and ergonomically safe work environment and must be available during working hours. While working remotely, the role will be required to have reliable Internet connection.
