Transportation Strategic Performance and System Support Manager

Job Description: 

The Strategic Performance and System Support Manager role within the Distribution Center (“DC”) at OSJL is responsible for the maintenance and reporting of Transportation related Key Performance Indicators (“KPI”) and the monitoring and reporting of the results of initiatives created to improve efficiencies including growth strategies and fleet optimization. This role is responsible for data integrity, and oversees the day-to-day operations involved with Transportation financial flow within Oracle and our Transportation Management System (“TMS”), Manhattan Active Transportation Management System (“MATM”). In addition, this role provides support for the Operations Objectives and Key Results (“OKR”) created to meet Company goals. This position also assists with the oversight of equipment, fuel tracking, and other financial-related duties in support of the operation.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Manage the maintenance transportation software and hardware, including, but not limited to, MATM, Trimble Mobility (PeopleNet), OnBoard Computer (“OBC”), Trimble Onboard DVR & Camera System and Orbcomm trailer tracking, as well as Oracle Financials and Viva for OKR management.
• Analyze and  create strategies for effective use of carriers in support of outbound transportation while optimizing fleet utilization/performance and minimizing cost.
• Assist in management of the MATM System application and understand the routing process.  Ensure synergy with the Warehouse Management System (“WMS”) solution and represent the Transportation department with the WMS team.
• Manages the procurement of goods and services for the Transportation Department
• Works with the Transportation team to develop an annual budget and develops a review process for budget accountability.   
• Analyze driver performance and compliance, providing feedback to driver managers as needed.
• Manage Drivers Alert program, addressing identified issues related to feedback provided by the data collection resource and feeding the information to driver managers.
• Develop and track continuous improvement targets for the Transportation Department. Document and maintain Transportation Department processes and information flow, touch points with other areas of the organization, and data sources for reporting.
• Develop and distribute analytics and reports to measure key metrics, drive results, and support performance reviews.
• Create purchase requisitions, track department expenses, and assist with budgeting. 
• Manage the Tracking fuel purchases, mileage, and file required tax reports using Trimble Vusion.
• Manage Transportation Department asset compliance and registrations. 
• Ensure compliance with Company policies, state, and federal regulations, maintaining accurate documentation, including, but not limited to, driver compliance for random drug screening, certification of violations/Motor Vehicle Record, and annual medical reviews. 
• Maintain positive relationships with various stakeholders, including, but not limited to, drivers, stores, internal and external partners). Influencing positive associate morale and quality customer service.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and recommend solutions. 
• As a member of the Management Safety Committee, work with Safety leadership and drivers to implement and administer Company safety and accident reporting policies and procedures.

Qualifications: 

• A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent is preferred.  Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience managing both carrier and company based fleets to include satellite locations.
• Proven record of success with driving performance as measured through KPIs.
• 6 or more years of supervisory experience is preferred. 
• Prior experience with data and financial analytics is required.
• Experience with an OBC is preferred.
• Strong computer skills (e.g., Google Suite, MS Office) and telephone skills are required.
• Excellent organizational and process management skills and attention to detail are required.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and follow up effectively.
• Strong communication skills, and ability to build and maintain a culture of trust and respect.
• Willingness to learn new things and take on new responsibility. 
• Lean Six Sigma or some type of continuous improvement methodology experience. 
• Proficiency in English is required; bilingual in Spanish is preferred. 
• Work independently with self-direction, independent judgment, and minimal supervision.

Work Environment: 

• Works primarily in a climate-controlled environment within the Distribution Center with minimal safety and health hazard potential. 
• Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks. 
• On call to remotely cover the 24-hour dispatch line on average every fifth (5th) week. Some weekend work may be required during seasonal times depending on the needs of the business.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000. Salary commensurates with years of experience.
