Duties And Responsibilities
Some of your major responsibilities will include:
- Function as an EPDC Subject Matter Expert (SME), working in conjunction with the EPDC System Managers in the JSC Engineering Directorate, supporting the Payload Safety Review Panels (PSRP), Safety Review Panel (SRP), ISS and Visiting Vehicle Safety Review Panels, and Vehicle Configuration meetings as required.
- Review Safety Data Packages (SDP), Hazard Reports (HRs), Non-Compliance Reports (NCRs), and technical data submittals to determine technical compliance against the human spaceflight flight safety requirements for the International Space Station Program (ISS).
- Provide design consultation and technical hazard assessment support to ISS Payloads, ISS Systems, and Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) Project organizations for appropriate safety design and as-built hardware requirements.
- Attend PSRP, SRP, Working Group, Technical Interchange Meetings, and other meetings as necessary for comment discussion on SDP package reviews.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED :
- A BS Engineering degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the Space Program, present to large groups of Engineers, and compile/condense technical information/data/reviews into understandable and actionable comments for the human space flight community.
- BS degree in electrical/electronic engineering (or similar) from an accredited engineering school and ten (10) years of related engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and eight (8) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related experience.
- Knowledge of International Space Station (ISS) safety requirements: SSP 30309 - Safety Analysis and Risk Assessment Requirements and SSP 30599 - Safety Review Process.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
