Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. We are looking for a unique individual who has the work ethic, self motivation and skill set to become the next member of our team. For the past seven years, Oceano has become recognized as one of the top restaurants in South Florida.
We work extremely hard to deliver an exceptional culinary experience each and every day. Our small menu changes often and relies upon the sourcing of exceptional product, baking with solid technique, and the ability to show restraint and integrity in everything we do.
This is not your typical South Florida kitchen.....it is a kitchen run a husband and wife team who have worked along side some of the best chefs in the world. Our owner/ pastry chef has overseen the pastry programs and multiple James Beard Best New Restaurants, and has over 20 years experience in well respected kitchen throughout the country. This is an incredible opportunity to work side by side with her on a daily basis. We are extremely passionate about our craft and serious about providing the best for each and every guest, however we also like to have fun and and enjoy working with like minded individuals who we think of as family. We are incredibly humble and understand the meaning of genuine hospitality.
The "right" candidate will first and foremost have a strong positive attitude and ability to work well as a team. An outgoing personality and ability to converse while cooking is also necessary as we work in an open kitchen cooking directly in front of our guests.
Candidates for this position must have the following:
- At least 3 years experience working in a well respected kitchen along with solid references from direct supervisors. Strong work history...meaning having worked at least a year in each position. Those with gaps or short stints in multiple restaurants will not be considered.
- Ability to work well under pressure and understanding of how to work through issues in a calm manner
- Understanding of good sanitation practices / health dept standards and ability to keep a clean station as you work through your day
- Strong knowledge of product, basic baking techniques and preparations
- Positive attitude and ability to work well with others.
- Inventory control
- Menu creation
- Strong attention to detail
- Management skills

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
