What are the responsibilities and job description for the UNDERWRITER, NONAGCY UW position at Oceanview Life & Annuity?
Oceanview US Holdings is hiring several well-rounded Non-Agency Underwriters. These individuals will be responsible for providing credit and product guidance in all Non-Agency loan programs, including Jumbo, DSCR, Bank Statement and other NonQM products. These responsibilities include the ability to weigh all aspects of individual loan credit risk to ensure loans are originated by third parties to meet secondary market requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist correspondents in loan origination and delivery procedures based on process and scenario inquiries to foster strong relationships with seller’s underwriting and post close teams.
- Provide guidance to clients via verbal and written recommendations in complex loan scenarios to give the customer the best opportunity to receive an underwriting approval for their borrower.
- Functions as the Non-Agency subject matter expert with all external partners and must obtain a working knowledge of all internal Non-Agency mortgage products to suggest and evaluate secondary options for loans, as applicable.
- Assist Scenario Desk in reviews of detailed scenario requests and issues recommendations within the published SLAs.
- Perform loan level assessments of Non-Agency correspondent originations production and pre-purchase conditions. Includes analysis of loan submission documents for accuracy and completeness, updating systems as needed for loan purchase. May also include review and tracking of post-purchase condition requirements.
- Communicate deficiencies to the affected business units and external parties as needed, includes making recommendations to external clients for remediation on all deficiencies that were identified.
- Recommends qualified loans for purchase and review Single Loan Variance within authority level.
- Manage assigned pipeline and maintain accountability for ensuring all internal and external parties are kept informed and facilitate loans efficiently moving to funding.
- Manages expectations of all parties and communicates positivity regarding the products and the company.
- Assist clients in resolving post-closing loan purchase conditions.
- Provide best-in-class customer service to all third-party clients and borrowers.
- Ability to assist in resolving post-purchase Quality Assurance audits from internal and external reviews
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Preferred 6 years’ experience in Underwriting role with minimum 2 years’ experience in Non-Agency
- Extensive experience in and strong knowledge of underwriting Non-Agency loans and NonQM lending
- Preferred experience in loan acquisitions, sales and securitization including third party due diligence
- General knowledge of Mortgage Banking origination practices, procedures, regulations and laws

Pay and Benefits
Hourly Pay range: $45.67 - $48.07 per hour . Salary is determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity.
Discretionary annual bonuses, when paid, are based principally on the evaluations of job performance by those to whom you report. Year-end bonus amounts are subject to change based on individual and company performance – although there is no guaranteed minimum for the year-end discretionary bonus.
