This job assumes responsibility for accomplishing tasks that yield efficiency in the maintenance of multiple revenue cycle applications (i.e., patient access, patient accounting, claims clearinghouse, eligibility, etc.). Tasks are performed under the direction of lead and / or direct supervisor. Participates in analyzing, testing, auditing, implementing, documenting and communicating systems functions, trends, issues, and resolutions. Receives guidance and is trained in the performance of job duties, but will be expected to demonstrate expertise regarding the functions performed, recognizing trends and potential issues in order to advise direct supervisor.
Education
Required - High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration or related field
Work Experience
Required - 4 years of related experience in a health care setting. Experience working with revenue cycle, analysis, supporting applications, testing, auditing, developing, implementing, and communicating.
Preferred - Experience utilizing EPIC or other patient accounting products, billing clearinghouse applications, and / or eligibility applications.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of required job information.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout required job processes.
- Customer service focused with demonstrated ability to gather and disseminate information through effective communication with a diverse range of people, either in person or over the phone.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and functional areas.
- Sound judgment skills in handling / escalating difficult situations and good organizational, time management, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, excellent decision-making skills.
- Good analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Prioritization skills necessary in order to meet the needs of the Financial Services department and the clinical areas.
- Self-directed including the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Excellent organization skills in order to handle several tasks and interruptions in a positive manner.
- Ability to travel throughout and between facilities, and ability to travel long distance (for conferences, training, and meetings).

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and / or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
