We are looking for an Surgery Scheduler to join our Surgery Center and work alongside our Physicians in our renowned, multi-subspecialty eye care group.
THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND
The OR Scheduler is responsible for providing exemplary patient care alongside our Physicians as we treat cataracts, glaucoma, diseases of the cornea and retina, and perform laser vision correction surgeries. You will utilize your administrative experience by maintaining the OR schedule.

OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU
- Schedule surgeries to be performed in ambulatory surgery facility
- Follow procedure for surgery schedule changes (i.e., cancellations/reschedules); considers priorities/emergencies and patient special needs when scheduling surgical procedures.
- Maintain and track all necessary patient information to include demographics, H&Ps, and insurance information.
- Prepare surgery schedule for review by the Nurse Practitioner and/or Clinical Nurse Director.
- Adheres to surgery scheduling department guidelines.
- Perform EMR documentation accurately; identify proper surgery site, procedure, and special needs of Surgeon.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary health care teams to maintain the standards of professional nursing practices in a clinical setting
- Review medical clearances and patient medical history to confirm appropriate clearances and approvals prior to surgery; Report on medical clearances to director or nursing and/or administrative team
- Communicate with clinics and offices regarding items needed for patient to be cleared
- Delivering excellent customer service, establishing and maintaining an organized professional environment.
- Integrate patient care standards in all clinical activities; participate in performance improvement activities to improve patient safety, quality of care and patient outcomes
- Promote a supportive and team-oriented environment
- 3-5 years solid administrative experience in a physician practice or hospital environment
- Extensive knowledge of ophthalmic medical diagnosis and ophthalmic medical procedures
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a changing environment
- You’re detail oriented and a strong communicator
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with attention to detail
- Experience and familiarity with NextGen/EMR
- Commitment to outstanding patient service
- Prior experience in a similar position within a surgery scheduling environment.
- 1-2 years of solid experience as an ophthalmic technician
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification
