What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Coordinator / Grants Manager position at OCOM?
Job Summary:
The OCOM Research Coordinator / Grants Manager will work as an assistant to the Research Director and assist with the daily operation of the OCOM research department and will provide hands-on support to OCOM faculty and student research projects and scholarly activity under the direction of the Research Director.
Position Start Date: 07/01/25
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Apply for Grants from various organizations including: NIH, NSF, AACOM, AOA, Industry,and Private Foundations.
- Assist faculty and students with manuscript submission to medical journals under the guidance of the Research Director.
- Daily attention to list of ongoing manuscript submissions, and tracking progress.
- Maintain a roster of faculty and student scholarly activity including published articles, book chapters, and abstracts; and research presented at national and regional meetings.
- Maintain roster of faculty research compliance with CITI training.
- Update the research website with resources, and highlights of faculty scholarly activity, after clearance from the research director and communications director.
- Actively assist in fostering research collaborations across our hospital partners.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to take directions from supervisor (Research Director) and work independently.
- Ability to follow grant submission instructions.
- Ability to follow journal manuscript submission instructions.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be local to the Central Florida area.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (or in progress) in English or biological/health sciences field.
- 1 years experience in grant writing.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
