Oconee County is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Park Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and improvement of our county parks, recreational facilities, and trails. This leadership role involves budgeting, project management, contractor oversight, staff supervision, and strategic planning to ensure high-quality park experiences for our community.
- Manage daily operations of park facilities and grounds
- Oversee maintenance, capital improvements, and equipment inventory
- Develop and manage annual budgets and expenditures
- Supervise staff and contractors; conduct training and evaluations
- Coordinate usage and scheduling of parks for internal and external programs
- Conduct inspections and prioritize work based on needs and safety
- Lead planning for maintenance tasks, events, and facility readiness
- Enforce safety standards and ensure policy compliance
- Respond to citizen inquiries and resolve issues professionally
- Manage software systems for registration, rentals, and memberships
- Work with contractors on projects including bid scope, quality control, and compliance
- Collaborate with departments, vendors, and community stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation, natural resource management, business administration, or related field
- 6–9 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in park/facility operations and project management
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License
- Preferred: CPSI (Certified Playground Safety Inspector), CPRP (Certified Parks and Recreation Professional)
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Technical proficiency with maintenance and scheduling software
- Budget development and fiscal management
- Ability to manage multiple projects and teams efficiently
- Understanding of safety and compliance regulations
- Professional writing and public interaction skills
- This role may require moderate physical activity, including lifting (12–20 lbs)
- Exposure to environmental elements like weather, noise, and outdoor conditions
- Occasional after-hours work or emergency response
