Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of building construction, renovations, and mobile home installations.
- Investigate suspected county ordinance violations and complaints related to property maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with county ordinances by scheduling and conducting inspections, interpreting codes, and documenting findings.
- Prepare required reports and records of all inspections and actions taken.
- Communicate with property owners and complainants regarding violations and corrective actions.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records of inspections and meet with contractors and property owners to discuss results.
- Enforce the Oconee County Code of Ordinances and International Property Maintenance Code throughout the county.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Administration, Code Enforcement, Building Inspection, or a related field.
- At least six months of experience in customer service, knowledge of magistrate court procedures, and understanding of basic construction procedures.
- Certified ICC Certification (Certified Code Enforcement Official) preferred.
