About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Building Inspector I to join our team in Oconee County South Carolina. As a key member of the organization, this individual will be responsible for ensuring that building construction, renovations, and mobile home installations comply with applicable codes and regulations.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and a strong knowledge of office policies and procedures. Additionally, they should have the ability to give information, guidance or assistance to people in order to directly facilitate task accomplishment.
This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent organizational and time management skills. The successful candidate will also have the ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports as needed.
Responsibilities include performing routine inspections of residential building construction, renovations, and mobile home installations for compliance with applicable building codes and regulations. This includes preparing inspection reports, issuing notices of correction and stop work orders, and explaining and interpreting codes and compliance requirements to contractors, engineers, architects, developers, property owners and others.
The successful candidate will also have the ability to follow up on each case to verify corrections comply with codes, and maintain records related to inspections. They should also have the ability to receive and respond to public inquiries, concerns and complaints regarding assigned cases and general department procedures.
