Direct Support Professional - 3rd Shift

Overview

Genesee Lake School, a MyPath company, is a nationally recognized employee-owned provider of educational, vocational, and therapeutic residential services. These programs support adolescents, teenagers and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, and complex trauma. As a Direct Support Professional - 3rd Shift, you will:

• Provides supervision, coaching, modeling, engagement, and support of students in all aspects of daily living, recreation activities, self-care skills, social and peer interaction, community integration, and emotion regulation while they are awake.
• Implements agency and individual treatment approaches for students as identified in ITPs, IEPs, and as established by the treatment team.
• Provides overall support to the home by helping with transition times as well as responding to and assisting with crisis situations including but not limited to behavioral incidents and elopement.
• As needed, administers medication following agency approved medication administration procedure. Performs quality assurance checks as designated to ensure proper and accurate administration of all medications.
• Remain awake during working hours of 10pm-7am roughly.
• Ensures that students are properly and appropriately supervised during sleeping hours with 15 minute documented checks.
• Toilets the students during the evening as needed.
• Completes household duties provided by manager during shift as needed.
• Attend team meetings as scheduled.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree in a social or behavioral science field preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience working with children and/or adults having developmental and behavioral disabilities with associated emotional, neurological, and intellectual disorders in a residential setting preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and effectively solve problems.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining self-composure and self-control.
• Self-motivated and able to work under minimal direct supervision.
• Valid Wi driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per company policy.

• This is a full-time, 40 hour/week position that requires availability to work alternating weekends and a holiday rotation.
