Description
Excellent summer job opportunity working as a maintenance assistant for the Department of Public Works. No weekends or evenings! Shift is Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Start and end date flexible based on student's school schedule when feasible. Starting pay is $15.75/hour. Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in the custodial care, upkeep, and maintenance of City buildings and surrounding grounds.
Examples of Duties
- Assist with maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance tasks, repairs, and special projects with or without supervision.
- Perform painting tasks: Apply fresh coats of paint to both interior and exterior surfaces to maintain aesthetic and structural integrity.
- Perform general upkeep and cleanliness: When neeed, maintain indoor and outdoor areas by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, mowing lawns, clearing snow, spreading salt, and removing debris to ensure a safe and well-kept environment.
- Other Duties and Project: Perform other duties and maintenance projects as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Requirements:
- Minimum Age 18 years old.
- Must be dependeable and able to report to work on time.
- Good driving record.
- Valid state driver’s license or the ability to obtain one prior to start of job.
- Must possess and wear ankle high safety toe boots while at work.

- Knowledge and experience with basic labor and maintenance-related tasks.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
