Compensation: $18/HR Paid Training
$17.50/HR Host points in Tip Pool (Guaranteed no less than $25/HR.) $28/HR. MOD Rate of Pay Benefits: Accrued Paid Time Off at .04/HR. Paid Out at $18/hr (2-weeks). Rolls Over. Primary Responsibilities: The role of the Front of House Floor Manager is someone who has a natural ability to be soft, lean with kindness and compassion while multi-tasking and staying sharp. This person comes with at least 3-years of front of house restaurant experience with ideally 1 or more years in a supervisor or management role with: serving, bartending and barista experiences. This person understands that communication is the key to success and that, very rarely, things happen the way you expect to happen in our industry.
The understanding that operational “pivots” are inevitable and are seen through the lens of opportunity to better ourselves where possible.
This person has a strong passion for food and drink with a hunger for delicious Terlingua-influenced brunch-themed foods and a thirst for vibrant, healthy and a distinct drink program.
The Front of House Floor Manager knows how to have fun with a sharp eye for efficiency. Understanding that… Being a natural “morning-person” would ease the transition to an earlier work schedule but know that it may be a learned skill!
In this role- You are not alone. You have the direct front of house management support from the Front of House Manager and the joint leadership teams. We rise and fall together that is built on trust and communication!
This position has a growth potential to become the Front of House Manager pending a 3, 6 and 9- month review.
You understand and promote “home-style” hospitality and service. You help to curate and maintain an atmosphere and service style that mirrors how you would welcome a respected guest to your home for a meal. You are kind, respectful and engaging. Helping to ensure that guests who are choosing to spend their time and money at Ocotillo feel cared for and leave knowing they would like to return.
This person comes to Ocotillo with known open-availability with the desire to work both AM and PM shifts.
Primary Acting Position: Host/MOD
- Primary station is as host, stationed at the door during service hours with the exception of Saturday & Sundays where there will be additional host support. To be reviewed based on sales volume, peak business hours and seasonal fluctuation from Spring into Summer.
- Welcoming, greeting, seating, and ensuring each guest is having a memorable experience.
- When posted at the front door- Circulating the restaurant, greeting customers, “touching tables” to check-in on their: Food, drink, experience- Building rapport and building regular community relationships.
Side Work Management:
- Daily side work sheets - Support the consistent completion of front house team sidework by modeling positive and proactive communication. Lead by action. - Deep Clean- Use the existing sheets to help ensure that deep clean projects are happening. Identify when seasonal changes to the sheets need to be made.
- Menu maintenance: Help to print and maintain menu counts for each service
- Upon arrival, check menu pars and make necessary prints.
- Phone messaging: Help to ensure that the host is helping to check and call back messages. Those that are not called back, this person is to help ensure that callbacks are happening.
Training: Be a BEACON!
- Model “home-style hospitality” customer service experiences to those who are working in a forward-facing role.
-Model positivity, proactivity and efficiency. Taking potential stressful, negative, challenging experiences into honoring the pivot to a positive outcome using communication tools.
-Help to execute a renowned FOH training program which includes:
- Scheduled Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 Training
- Level 1 > Level 2 Training Program support
- Identify when a team member needs extra support by communicating the need for an intentional review.
Employee Handbook Guidance: Helping to enforce by LEADING WITH EXAMPLE
- Help to ensure that all employees are acting in compliance with the employee handbook. This may include:
- De-escalation with staff who may be stressed, tired, experiencing life challenges
- Compliant with the employee dress code
- Compliant with acting within the guidelines of working within a safe and healthy
workplace
- Ensuring that all people feel safe, welcomed and heard
- Addressing handbook violations to the Front of House Manager
- Being a voice and essential person on the management team to help enforce the vision of a positive, efficient workplace

- Work directly with the Front of House Manager as part of the supportive team to ensure we all rise and fall together. So that no one person feels like they are on an “island” and that there is a clear line of communication directly with the entire management team.
Cash Handling:- Cash Reporting for each shift you work. Identify and coordinate a schedule for cash reporting with the Front of House Manager
- Reporting discrepancies and helping to ensure that all cash is being reported by each team member for each of the shifts you are working.
Toast Maintenance:
- Helping to maintain accurate menu items in Toast by inputting daily specials and taking out items that are no longer active.
- Helping to maintain/upkeep/organize and efficiently use Toast as our Point of Sales Systems
RESY Management:
- Helping to maintain our reservations platform in coordination with the Host team and Front of House Manager.
- Helping large party request standard operating procedures to support the Front of House Manager in their role to book and execute large groups and events.
Social Media:- Help to take and post social media photos, videos, reels coordinated with social media poster using social media channel in Slack
Meetings and Communications:
- Participating in certain management meetings. May be required to come to a manager meeting outside of their normally scheduled hours.
Slack Communications:
- Using our communication platform, Slack, to effectively engage with the team Food and Drink Execution Understanding:
- To engage with the Chef and the kitchen leadership team to ensure that the day-to-day plating and food being prepared and sent to tables meets the highest level of standards Ocotillo has in place.
- Being in the know of Ocotillo food-sourcing, daily specials to engage and shout out the incredible food that we serve and help communicate with the guests!
- The Bar: Having a clear and thorough knowledge-base of the bar program to be able to communicate its programs to guests.
- To be able to support team members in training and growing in their roles. This may include:
- Knowledge check quizzes
- Learning more about agave-houses
- Engaging and having fun with drink specials and executions
