The Manteo Community Health Center, a part of Ocracoke Heath Centers, Inc. is looking for a Medical Assistant!

We offer services including behavioral health, primary care, in-house pharmacies, pediatric care, migrant & seasonal farm workers, telemedicine, dental health, and MVP programs. The organization consists of three health centers in Ocracoke, Manteo, and Engelhard, NC.

Job Title : Medical Assistant

Supervisor's Title : Clinical Nurse Manager

Pay : $17 - 19 per hour

Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

As a Medical Assistant you will be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians / providers with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services.

Essential Job Responsibilities :

Documents all required medical care and medical information in EMR - Athena.
Gather pertinent patient medical information and history as required.
Checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam / procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
Performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians / nurses with various procedures; relaying instructions to patients / families; answering calls, and providing pertinent information.

Requirements :

Education : High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting is preferred, but not required

Experience : Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and / or externship completed in a medical office.

Helpful but not required :

Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience.

Bilingual : English and Spanish

Salary : $17 - $19
