What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Data Analyst, Data Strategy position at Octagon?
- Our headquarters is in Stamford, CT, but the location of this position can be flexible with a priority given to candidates open to hybrid work (3 days a week in the office in one of our office locations - - Stamford, CT, New York, NY, Charlotte, NC, Los Angeles, CA, Chicago, IL or Atlanta, GA. We will also consider a remote-based working arrangement for qualified candidates with East Coast working hours as a prerequisite."
As a Senior Data Analyst, you will execute a number of custom analytics projects for a wide variety of internal teams and clients. You will be responsible for performing data collection and utilizing various analytical approaches, helping the senior team members interpret results, and generate insights. You will be critical in the provision of meaningful and actionable insights and recommendations in order to drive high client satisfaction. Curiosity and passion for driving learning and insights through sophisticated analytic techniques are a must.
THE WORK YOU'LL DO
- Acquire, cleanse, transform and verify data from first, second, and third-party data sources
- Interpret data, analyze results, and identify trends using statistical techniques and provide ongoing insights/measurement reports
- Ensure data quality & hygiene
- Extract, transform and load large data sets
- Help the manager and other members of the team build a clear, story-driven presentation of model results
- Build comprehensive dashboards and reports for use both internally and with clients
- Work closely with Data & Tech teams to collaborate on data infrastructure and processes
- Collaborate closely with key internal SMEs to verify data integrity, model accuracy, and seek input for client presentations
- Evaluate and refine processes for continued efficiency improvements

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 2-5 years of proven full time work experience in a data-focused role
- Experience using statistical programming languages, libraries, or packages for mathematical or data operations, and analyzing large datasets. E.g., Python, R is highly preferred
- Experience using dashboarding tools like R Shiny, Tableau, Power BI, etc. is highly preferred
- Proficiency in basic SQL (Number, date & character manipulations, joins) is highly preferred
- Experience leveraging large scale marketing databases like Acxiom, comScore, Nielsen, Scarborough, YouGov, MRI Simmons, to tell compelling stories a plus
- Experience with data modeling techniques such as multiple linear regression, classification, segmentation, etc. is a plus
- Proficiency in MS Word & MS PowerPoint required
- Demonstrated ability to learn new programs and concepts in an efficient manor
- Experience with Media or Advertising Analytics is desirable. Agency experience preferred but not required
- Experience communicating the results and recommendations from technical analysis to non-technical audiences
- Ideal areas of study/experience include: Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, and/or Marketing Business Management
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, prioritize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to present your work and collaborate within a team environment is essential
