The work involves responsibility for performing semi-skilled mechanical work in the installation, testing and repair of residential water meters. Standard hand and power tools are used in the work. The employee must apply prior experience with small mechanism repair to function in this class. Assignments are received verbally or in writing from the supervisor with completed work reviewed through equipment performance and review of forms indicating work performed and time charged or may be reviewed in progress, on site, by the supervisor, through observation. This class differs from that of the Water Meter Repair Worker II in that the assignments cover the installation and repair of residential meters, rather than the more complex industrial water metering devices.
